The surveys/reports were probably filed by people who never even do maintenance on a car. I hear a lot of people bitching and whining about the reliability of these cars and I have never had an issue.

I'm sure it's like this everywhere but around where I live, I'll see fairly recent model cars (late 90s to mid 2000s) that have gas engines and sound like diesels. My father also rebuilds automatic transmissions. It amazes me how poorly maintained the "average person" leaves a car. We'll check a car out and find out that the plugs have never been changed in 200,000 miles, oil is burnt to hell and low, and the list goes on. Then these same people bash on us b/c even with a fresh transmission rebuild, their car still runs like ***. But they decline on having an oil change/spark plugs, etc. while we have it in the shop.
SO with that, I'm pretty sure none of the Zs have issues that should drive people away. 03s had the most issues and that's nothing that can't be fixed.
I am sorry if this question was asked before, but what are these "models" compared to? How do they come up with the value, better. Is it being compared to the 2008 350Z?

Its statistics. Standard deviation from the mean. "Predicted reliability," I assume, comes from trend analysis. Not sure how you establish a 370Z reliability trend based on 1 year of data.
