Read about this earlier. Nissan is milking it badly with the Z34 platform. Not one significant upgrade in 7 years!!! WOW!!! Glad I got rid of mine last year.

It was disappointing to see that's what they decided to change..... "enhances natural engine sounds to help bolster the driver’s acceleration experience." WHAT. THE. ****? Maybe they'll realize the 370Z is behind and needs some weight reduction and a turbo.

Thats being addressed. As the Z34 followed the G 7 years ago, the new Z35 will surely follow the new Q, which WILL have a twin turbo 6 making 400hp base model and optioned 450 top end model.

I would love that, but I'll believe it when it actually happens

The Q powerplant IS confirmed, so logically the Z will follow suit. Its the Mercedes 3.0 Liter twin Turbo going in the next Q.

What about weight? When I drove the Z it just felt so heavy, this is one of the reasons I got a 350Z again instead, it just feels more fun.

The 370 is 95 pounds lighter than most iterations of the 350.

As an owner of both platforms, I'd definitely give the Z34 the edge on "creature comforts".

But is that why I chose a Z-car for me, my wife (and kid who bought his own) to drive? Nyet.

I'm sure it's a fine car but c'mon....

Psh. Sound enhancement? Really????? And here I was thinking the SynchroRev (which wife doesn't use, her preferring true heel-toe) feature was an unnecessary joke. Oy oy oy.

Oh, and lest I forget.... a Nismo Z with a NON-dual clutch automatic operated with Nintendo shifters? Not hatin' on automatics at all, I have two cars equipped as such. But really, in a supposed SPORTS version Z??? Great... another car for the "Santana-Row-showoff-but-I-can't-afford-a-Lambo" crowd. (You gotta be a local to understand that. How about "poseur" to simplify things? :icon17:)

Coffee can exhaust noise through my speaker system. Wow, almost as bad as those talking cars from the '80's.:icon14:

Mic

PS Sorry, my usual objectivity has been replaced with subjectivity on the "new" Z34.

Id give the Z34 the edge over the Z33 in EVERYTHING except, visibility and exhaust note (that Z33 DE bauable was so sweet). I couldnt see squat out of my 370. Speaking of exhausts, I picked up a '14 3.8 Genesis coupe, it has the best sounding V6 Ive ever heard.

saywat? 04-10-2015 05:55 PM

shoulda jus left the vq sound from the vq35de era

m e l l o w 04-10-2015 07:10 PM

Damn I guess what I heard was way off. I was under the impression the 370z would be the last of the "Z" series for a little while and would be put on the back burner. Meanwhile the IDX would stand in place with a turbo charged 2.0L engine.

Someone want to help clear this up? I do know IDX was a concept for a while..but I thought it was made official.

bith8791 04-11-2015 07:20 AM

That's not official as far as I know.

Hearing "2016 370z" is really disappointing.

Nissan has handed it's compact, lightweight, affordable sports car business over to Subaru/Scion like Sony handed it's portable music business to Apple.

Complete mismanagement of that division, not able to keep up and remain relevant or competitive. Resorting to gimmicks to be able to say something new about the 2016. Just be honest and say "It remains unchanged for the 2016 model year. Have some dignity about being paralyzed.

The Z is long overdue for a new dedicated platform. They can't keep sharing the platform with a sedan that continues to grow. Sounds like they are outsourcing the engine. They will likely outsource the platform as well and then what we are actually driving is not a Z at heart.

The only remaining glimmer of hope is that they come up with a body design that is drop-dead gorgeous, but if their other recent releases are any indicator and they insist on plaguing their Z with their hideous visual branding, anything they produce will be a complete failure.

Now, back to my drop-dead gorgeous 2007 350z with USDM Nismo kit, Injen intakes, Bassani exhaust, Berk HFC's, and tune. No need to augment looks or sound on that beast.

bith8791 05-02-2015 07:59 AM

I'm sitting at the Nissan dealership right now thinking the exact same thing, I had to bring in my '14 Rogue today, I spent the first 10-15 minutes looking at the z34's, I like what they did with the '15 Nismo, after owning my z33 for 11 years this month I could see myself in one of those.

Ultimately, the automotive industry is becoming more and more competitive. With low sales of the z35 models and a generation of millennials (biggest group that advertisers are targeting now and beyond) who aren't in the know about tuning cars, I believe that whether Nissan decides to continue to create a True Z will be based on demand.

But as a vq35de owner, I hope for the sake of the Z lineage, that Nissan does continue in the dev of this true sports car.

Sales of the Z35 are at an all time low of zero. When they make the Z35, im sure that # will go up.

I can pretty much guarantee you whatever they put in the Q iteration of the coupe will be the same platform and engine used in the Z model.

No way are they going to spend resources and time developing a special platform only for the next Z.

I had a blast owning my 350Z (up for sale now). Glad I never bought a 370Z. Time to move on to better things.

Waiz 06-05-2015 07:49 PM

2016 is a carry-over, we're still waiting for confirmation for the Z35
