Do I buy vinyl or cloth cleaner for the 2006's top?
 

I don't know which cleaner to buy and I have searched for which type the top is, the owners manual doesn't even specify.

This has been much discussed and you may want to do a search, but the short answer is: it's a CLOTH treated a coating which makes it seem similar to vinyl, so in a way it's sort of a hybrid. That said, vast majority of folks have gone w/the cloth cleaner & treatment. I recommend Raggtop, for both the cleaner and the protectant/treatment. One of the few products that actually works every bit as well as they say it does, when "used as directed". Good luck.

I did buy the Raggtop - but the vinyl one. I am wondering if I should return it and get the cloth...:confused:

You got it backwards, It's a vinyl top with a cloth like apperance. I originally used the Raggtop for cloth tops then switched to the one for vinyl tops. The one for vinyl gave the top more luster and appear darker.

Do a search and be more confused with this. I bought 303 vinyl and liked the results but I haven't tried the other one. You should buy a cleaner as well.

Since there was so much discussion back and forth on this topic, I asked RaggTopp directly. They recommended the cloth version. Now I'm second guessing their recommendation.

I'm positive there are several folks on this forum who have been informed by folks who oughta know (e.g., NNA, alleged supplier contacts, etc.) that it's cloth w/a coating. On the other hand, the web isn't always the best place to go for rock-solid info., and plenty of people have been misinformed by Nissan's customer service and dealer personnel. Sometimes they don't know and think they do (maybe like me :icon38: ) and sometimes if you call I think you get someone who just tells you something to get you off the line.

However, even if you were correct about it being vinyl, you must have never seen a "cloth-looking" top, e.g., Jag vert., 'Vette vert., and the like. Textured or not, this top sure looks like a vinyl one to me. Every vinyl top I ever saw had tried to mimic the texture of cloth, but looked worlds different.

That was the nature of much of the discussion--that it was counter-intuitive.

I have yet to see a post, though, from someone who had used either "concoction" of Raggtop and gotten bad results. I doubt either formula will harm it, and both offer UV and H2O protection. I think I even saw a couple posts from folks who had tried both (if you do a search for raggtop, try about 12 different spellings), and couldn't tell any difference.

As for me, 2 yrs. and multiple uses of the cloth version, and have been delighted. No degradation of material, excellent rain proctection, and my baby is a daily driver w/over 38K mi. on her. Frankly, if the vinyl version makes the top have a sheen, I'd stay w/the cloth formula even if I learned for sure the top was vinyl. I like the matte/satin-type look that doesn't call attention to the top.

Thats' interesting, a while back someone else asked the manufacturer of Raggtop and they said the top was definatley vinyl.-

I have tried both Raggtops and IMO the vinyl makes the top look better. The cloth Raggtop made it look blotchy and dull.
