Wouldn't it be nice if?

you can stand outside your car and hold down a botton on your remote to close the top, windows and lock the doors. I'm wondering if anyone have done this yet.

Oh shi*** I forgot you half to be inside to lock the top. But it still would be nice though.

i wanted the voltswageon thing with the key in the door. i think thats so cool...

I've been thinking about what it would take to replace the latch handle with a contact switch and a solenoid...

um you can do that with a 350Z ... insert key in driver's side door and turn left and hold for a second (both windows will go down) ... turn to the right and the windows go up. Also if you hold on to the unlock button on the remote for more than 2 seconds the window will go down ...

someone didn't read the manual ...

Don't forget, the brake pedal needs to be pressed down to put the top down as well.

Right. And I'm sure that's an easy fix just shorting a connection. It's the solenoid install that I'm still thinking about...

HAHAHAHA...I've had my car for 3-years and didn't know that. Obviously I didn't read the manual.

I just went outside and tried it because I didn't believe it.

solenoid sounds like a good idea but making it air tight might be another problem.

one more in case you didn't know .... you are actually given a 45 to 60 second allotted time to put your windows up after you turn your key into the off position. Catch is: opening the door will negate this.

it's always cool to find out something new about the Z ... especially if you've already had for a couple of years.

My mom has the mercedes SL and the top can be operated completely with the key fob, its cool as hell. I got to take it out the other day with the gf, and was able to put the top down as we were walking out from lunch!! LOL.

Not sure it would work well with a cloth top...like the afforementioned water tightness etc.

If the solenoid is used to actuate the existing locking mechanism, I don't think there'd be a problem.

man people are starting to get lazy and not want to push the auto window buttons on the doors now.

sdbarker Aug 22, 2006 01:21 PM

The point is so much not wanting to do it, but the cool factor of transforming your car while you're walking up to it, and the convenience of letting the hot air that's been trapped in it all day escape, as well as having it lock itself up after you start to walk away. :)
