Waiting until the convertible comes out to buy the coupe..
i'm really in no rush to get the car, so i wonder if waiting until when the convertible is released will reduce the demand or at least shift the attention from the coupe versions so that dealers will be more willing to deal?
nissan dealers have historically given deep discounts compared to honda/toyota/etc.. on their bread-and-butter models, i hope that carries over to this car once the initial hype dies down.. (yes, yes, i know i'll probably never be able to get the car for $500 over invoice like you can do with the maximas.. i'm just hoping they don't play it like honda does it with the s2k's, $7000 'dealer adjustment' at a dealer a couple of weeks ago)

S2000 should be had for MSRP or less. Some dealers may play on peoples ignorance to make a killing.
If you wait 9 months or a year the hype around the Z dies down you may save a grand. But I think having the car in the first six months it is out is worth paying an extra grand. If money is tight it may not be worth it to you. It is nice to show your car off to people that have NEVER seen it before.

I would estimate a lot of hype the first 2-3 months... so much hype that over MSRP by $2000 + (like it says on Edmonds) is very, very possible. The demand will start out high but as it dies down a little I would expect a Z being acquired for $1000 under MSRP (Super Special) within a year...
I'm not a marketing analysis hehe but I'll tell you every new product has a huggggeeeee initial cost. You pay the price for being first on the block. Unless you're Pre-order #2014 :P
