I've hard rumors of hard-top convertible on a 350Z.

Is it true?
One of the reasons for me waiting until now was to see if it was going to be available for 2004, but it turned out to be a soft-top convertible. It's okay, since the other reason for me to hold until now was to get better pricing on 2003 models.
Are there plans for a hard-top convertible in the future?
What's the deal?

It'll help if you post where or how you heard that.

But yeah, I would be interested in that too.
I wish it was a removable hard top, like targa

There has not been a single creditable rumor about a hardtop vert Z.

All just rumors in my opinion.Would make the Z way too expensive.Remember the last Z?

Paper Tiger Jun 15, 2003 11:47 AM

I'm not lying, I have better things to do than spread false rumors.
I cannot remember or find the same site, though.
Two things, they have been removed once the soft-top have been made or I simple can't find it.
I remember, it was a pretty reliable site too, I vaguely remember, but I think it was an European website.

I'm so surprise, no one here knew about this rumor. You guys know everything on 350Z, well, it seems like...
This will further discredit me, since I cannot submit a website...
There were about two or three sites, around January; all text and no pictures, obviously.

see i heard it was a retractible (sp) hardtop?

ares Jun 15, 2003 03:05 PM

there are no current plans for a hard top convertable. I think this would extend for a few years, and with a softtop there, and the fact that hardtop means little to no trunk, and a very expensive, complex mechanism prone to failure.

I wouldnt hold my breath for one to ever come out.

RANDY350Z Jun 15, 2003 08:56 PM

Last year there was a rumor that the convertible was going to be a retractible hard-top, but w/ Nissan trying to keep the price under 40000. it was not feasable. But Nissan may manufacture a detachable hard top for it since Honda, BMW, Porshe, and Toyota (imported) have one for there convertibles. Lets HOPE!
