is 20's to much?
I'm thinking of throwing some 20's on my roadster but i can't decide. The only thing i'm worried about is scrapping cause i sit pretty low as it is. I know alot of people on the forum hate 20's on a Z but i don't race or take it to the strip. My Z is simply cosmetic. What do you guys think?

Do it, it will look seksey

20s are b e a UUUU TIFULLLL

20s on a Z? 19s, yeah, but 20s?? I'd have to see it.
|
I don't think so. Personally, I really like the look of some 20's on the Z. 20" TE37's, for example, look really, really good on a Z. Big chrome 20's...ehh....depends on the wheel. I like the chrome TSW 20" Vortex. Some don't...
I don't think you'll scrape any more with 20's so long as the overall diameter of the wheel (with tire) remains close to what you have now. Here's a tire calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html It'll help you pick the right radius and sidewall size. You'll probably have to run a skinny, rubberband looking tire so beware of potyholes. I'd like to get 20's but, if I even get aftermarket rims, I may go with the "compromise" and get 19's. |
20s is baller looking sometimes. Not my thing though.
|
i didn't think of tire size with the potholes. That might cause some trouble. Has anyone expierenced this on the highway? i'll check out sizes and see what i can pull off. My main concern is what i mentioned above about rubbing. my fenders are rolled but i sit kinda low. if i go with a super skinny tire i should be good though. if i get a good deal on prices i'm going to go for it.

no... never really liked 20s on a z, doesnt match the car in my opinion...
|
I think it look hawt on a show car, but for everyday use ... no thank you.
Up here near Detroit, the expansion joints in the road can be brutal, the pot holes look like the receiving end of an artillary range and the only way to prevent wheel theft downtown is to never stop the car. I may pick up a set of 19"ers for fun but use the stock 18"ers for everyday use. |

I had 20's & switched to 19s (wisest decision EVER). The car just doesn't feels right. You'll feel EVERYTHING in the road with 20s. Anyway, if you put 20s please don't let them be chrome.
Here are my 19's (car is lowered just 1/2"). http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...intablilla.jpg |
they won't be chrome. i'm thinking all black w/some red (I have a red roadster). i think it'll look good but i'm worried after i buy them mount them and cruise on them for a while i'll wish i would have went with 19's.
Jorge, the only reason you went with 19's was because you felt everything on the road? or was there other reasons? |
Forget 20s. Definitely not for the Z. It looks too ghetto.
19s are perfect. |
for looks are concerned 19's are the way to go.
|
i have 20"black rims on my z and everyone thati know says it looks way better than they expected and i agree i was a little sketckey at first weather or not to do it but deffently do it they look good as hell
|
20 inch tires are less expensive than 19's.
|
Keyto, thanks for the responce. Do you mind posting a pic of your Z w/the 20s? Are you lowered on anything with the 20s?
