Lubricant - top mechanism

What kind do you use?

My '05 is starting to make "oil me" noises, tho I tried a dry, silicone lubricant a while ago and WD40 recently.

The manuals I've searched don't seem to address this topic.

got an 05 to but wd40 did the trick, spray all the joints and tracks in the back should fix it up
becareful not to spray the top though obviously leaves a nasty stain

Keep in mind that WD40 is primarily a solvent with light, short term lubrication ability. It's great to free things up and get them moving again, but won't keep it lubed for long. White lithium grease is the usual prescription for automotive hinges and such.

Makes sense - good info - thanks!

Wish Primis would manufacture/ship thier 'lube gel' product again.

The info on WD40 is correct. You can try some spray lithium grease - but make sure you clean the areas prior to application. AND - if you do it again - clean up old grease. It has a tendency to gather dirt, etc. I've done this - and it really did help.

Good luck.

Anybody use graphite? Hear anything good or bad about that?

Resurrecting this old thread. Has anyone done it on our cars? or it is pretty much the same like Mr. Goss tells us? Also is it OK to lift the top half up in order to reach the hinges?

I use Nissan's window regulator grease. Part #: 999MP-WRG00P.

OK thanks. You know its funny I went to this big name Nissan dealer here in Tulsa a couple of weeks ago and asked for that grease and they said no Nissan does not make any, just use while lithium grease. thanks for the info.

Searched the web and apparently Nissan has discontinued it. Some vendors may still have it. So will keep looking
