Potential owner - found pooling water in space where soft top stores
Hi,
New to the group. Longtime Z car fan.
I am looking at a 2007 roadster to buy yesterday. It’s the grand touring package. One thing my wife noticed that when the owner raised the top for us - there were two pools of water in the compartment, but wasn’t raining in our area yesterday. My only thinking is water gets in there from a wet top? Can there areas leak? Is that normal or a red flag?
Also - from a buying guide perspective - if you were looking at a used 350 - what model yr/package would you choose & why?
cheers

There are supposed to be two hoses, one on each side that drain water out of the soft top well. Those drains are probably plugged. Get the car inspected and specifically ask them to look for rust/rot in that area and for a quote to clear the drains.
I own a 05 GTR and love it, except after I had my top cover replaced after the original finally ripped.
After that, I have experienced flooding in that area and into the seatbelt area(where the seatbelt is drawn back into the side of the vehicle.
I will check to see if the tubes have plugged (thanks for the heads up), but also check to see if the weather stripping on the bottom at the rear of the top is secure. I have found that they did not do a very good job of attaching it and it sometimes comes loose resulting in an inadequate seal.
