Aside from a little easier access what is benefit of this piece? Looks heavier and not as forgiving if you scrape something?

You can do the swap in 15 min. especially if you have a cordless drill; 10mm socket and that really speeds it up.

Before buying my Z, I didn't know how to change a windshield wiper... let alone changing the oil. Thanks to the resources on this forum and good local friends I made along the way of owning this car who taught me a thing or two. I am capable of doing a lot of things myself now, note: some of the stuff I did was my first attempt so I know how it feels of being "incapable."

Hardest part is jacking up the car, especially if you're really low. If car is stock then it shouldn't be hard at all. Jack points are on this forum or manual (I think), search for it. After car is in the air, remove 12-14 bolts (forgot the count) with a 10mm socket.... then replacing it with the new one and screw the bolts back on, that's it!

Now take a step back and look at what you've accomplished. You'll gain more confidence in DIY for your next mod.

If you do not want to take stogey's suggestion........
Since your in TN, the cost should be very reasonable.....call your local shop that does oil changes and ask them what they would charge.....if I had to guess...
about $20-$25 or they might do it for FREE if you include your oil change!

I'm also wondering what is the benefit of going from the OEM plastic piece to the new aluminum piece which I'm sure is heavier...

Looks better, easier access, more durable (my plastic piece was essentially destroyed by the time I got one of these, and my G is not lowered).

Possibly better airflow to the engine compartment with the arrangement of the vents. No guarantee of this, though.

one benefit is the removal of only 2 bolts to change your oil instead of a dozen or so.
the undershroud looks better than the OEM and also adds lots and lots of horse power
just like the stickers and other misc. items.

I installed this undershroud yesterday and it looks great. I can drive with more confidence now and will appreciate the ease of access during next oil change. Thanks Zspeed.

Nice! I would recommend putting the rear shield on first so that the front part overlaps it. It will keep air going smoothly over them.
