Need Feedback from stereo guru's
This maybe a repost
I want to add an amp, new speakers and an infinity Basslink to my stock non-blose head unit? I know i need a line level converter, but do I have to run two seperate power cords through the fire wall to power the amp and basslink? Also do you put a splitter on the rca jacks from the deck to the amp and basslink or do they each get their own rca jacks?any basic diagram would be appreciated Where do you run the power through the dash to the engine? Should I bother with amping the rear speakers? remember I'm on a budget for less than a grand and from what I've heard this should be possible. I just want a little bass and a tighter sounding system Thanks for your help in advanced And please if it's a repost, which I could not find don't put repost Just ignore the post t/y :icon04: :icon4: :icon04: |
There's no reason to run 2 power lines through the car. One run bigger line back to the amp/sub and use a simple distribution block to make wiring easier.
I ran my power wire right along the stock wiring harness above the battery. It's been 2 years now since I did it but I remember it was quite simple. Remove all the plastic drama above the battery and you'll see the wiring harness. There's plenty of room in the harness groumet to run 0 gauge wire. I then tucked the wire along the passanger side door sile and to the back. I've never dealt with line drivers and drama associated with using a stock head unit so I won't comment there. Honestly you can grab any $150 head unit and it will blow away the stock head unit. For the rear speakers don't even bother amping. They are 32ohm POS and if you decide to use rear speakers I wouldn't even consider keeping those. Just replace with some cheap aftermarket coaxs. Unless you're running video I wouldn't bother with rear speakers, they do nothing but screw up imaging, acoustics, and sound. |
repost, j/p
there's a how-to section with pictures on how to run power to the battery. check it out. |
LS350Z,
Thanks for the help, I'm trying to stay with the stock look and I really haven't an aftermarket kit or stereo that follows the lines of the opening that is created when dumping the stereo Any way let's say I have an after market stereo with two sets of rca plugs how do you hook that up to the amp and basslink respectively and still maintain fade bass and all that jazz Do you use the ditribution block for the rca jack or will there be a seperate on for the amp and basslink Thanks Crude try at a diagram: Would it look like this Amp---------Front Speakers Battery--------Distribution block------[ / Basslink Stereo------------Rca___________/ \_____________________________Rear Speakers No Amp :icon04: :icon4: :icon04: |
