Need help and sage advice

I'm a musician and absolutely hate the sound in the Enthusiast base stereo. (So what's new?)I'm not looking to entertain other cars on the freeway or impress anyone with my kickin bass. I just want a more refined sound and I think the tweets are a big part of the harshness in the current system. Any inexpensive way to get what I want by just changing the tweeters and maybe the rear speakers and improve the sound? The door panel speakers sound the best of them all to me. This audio gear for cars is ridiculously expensive and I am used to spending more for audio gear for the home, anyway.(I have Linn high end gear for my home stereo)I obviously don't know anything about car audio gear and need help to make this car sound decent. So far I haven't even found any replacement tweets that will fit this car without jury rigging. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Everyones ears are different. Being a musician, I would think your ears are better than the norm. How much were you looking to spend? A lot of people here like Infinity Kappa Perfects. I would suggest you bring your favorite CD to a few stereo shops and listen to everything they have. Then you can make an accurate judgement on what you like.

As a fellow musician...(I get a little carried away but)...you can only hope so much out of just replacing your door speakers. The tweeter is placed more than 6 inches from the midbass driver making the imaging very strange and hard to swallow. Kick panels are the way go for the best possible sound out of our cars.

That aside, what stu said.

A Pair of these would not sound too bad..
