Installer didn't chamber box. DID I GET RIPPED OFF?????
I got two 10 inch JL WO custom installed in a sealed fiberglass box. I don't think the box is chambered. This is because at high volumes, the two subs do not move identically. It looks like it's fighting for air. However, the sound quality is great, and the bass is clear and deep.
When I asked my installer about this, he told me that the sound quality doesn't change whether it's chambered or not? It's just for looks. My friends have told me it's bs, and I'm getting ripped off. What do you guys think? |
chambered....what do you mean
seperate chambers for each sub? Is that what you mean? Yes you get better sound quality out of a chambered enclosure but with w0 you wont hear a difference |
two identical drivers in a perfect box won't interact ... as they share all the internal pressures equally ... however ... this world is not perfect .. the subs are interacting with each other and yes, you are losing a bit of SQ
like ahsmo said ..... W0 isn't gonna notice it a lot. are you sure the guy wired the drivers correctly? take a 9V battery ... hood the leads of the subs to it ... make sure they move in the same direction. if not, he screwed up and needs to fix it. |
