Default Stock gage wire for amp

Hey guys, with me installing the Alpine F250 40x4 amp,,,,,will the stock gage wires for the front speakers be sufficent. I would rather not run new wires through the door if at all possible.....I know the F250 is not a powerful amp and was hoping to tap the wires behind the headunit for the front...Would this be ok? Thanks for all you guys help. I know I have asked many questions here and everyone has been great. I promise to post pic's when I get everything installed. It wont be the most glamerous, loud install, but should be clean and have a nice balanced sound...

Hey guys,,,do you think the power ratio is good with Alpine F250 40x4 and the Alpine M450 250x1 subamp....I ordered the s series subs dual 4ohm....looks like I can only run a 4ohm set up with those subs...Also,,,if I upgrade to the Alpine F450 70x4 for the front/rear, would the stock speaker wires still hold up? Thanks again for everything

40 to 45 watts is about what most amplifiers put out - the 70-100 watt amplifiers are bigger and give you about 3 dB more amplitude - barely noticable. These amplifiers tend to be the bigger ones with better controls and quality. If you'll hear the difference is another thing all together.

70 watts across 4 ohms is just 4.17 amps peak power ... still not enough to worry about.

40 watts of front speaker to 250 watts of subwoofer ought to be pretty good. I've found that subwoofer's larger amplifier is often under driven (gains lowered a bunch) meaning that you can play louder and longer without clipping or over heating. Many people who tweak by ear put the bass up 4 or more dB and seem to enjoy that ratio. When I tweak by ear I end up with more bass than I ought to have but once I run the spectrum analyzer on the thing I put it back where it should be.

Paul350Z,,,wow thanks a lot. I really appreciate your input. I ordered my stuff from onlinecarstereo.com.....I then talked with Crutchfield abou the
M450 amp, 250x1 with the s series dual 4ohm voicecoils....crutchfield said thats not a good combination amp/sub set-up...they said for me to do the M650 amp 400x1 and the s series dual 2ohm subs.......I didnt know if that was to make a sale, or if what I ordered is ok? What do you think? Again, I am not looking to knock my hatch loose, I just want a good all around sounding system with a "little" kick...

The M450 1 channel amplifer is 220 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms) so it drives both 4 and 2 ohm loads.

How many subwoofers did you buy?

If you're buying one then get the 4 ohm coil model as you'll connect the two coils in parallel for a nice 2 ohm load to draw the most power out of the M450.

If you bought two subwoofers you should have bought the dual 2 ohm voice coils so that you can connect them in parallel in each speaker (2 + 2 = 1 ohm) and then connect the two speakers in series with each other (1 + 1 = 2 ohms).
