How about an amp install howto (or link to one previously done). I desperately want to change the stock head unit and factory speakers but know it will require the installation of an amp which I've never done.

Thanks,

Theres really no set way, you just find a spot and mount it. There are plenty of Amp installs (check the sub thread) Most install are either in the glove box or sub area (same thing just mirror each other.) The only thing really that you need to know is the Amp itself (ie, connections, number of amps, etc..) If you go to JL audio's site, they have info on how to hook up mulitple amps. Also you want to make sure your power and input audio are seperated. If not you'll get noise. IE. if you have power cable going to the glove box on the left and rca cables on the right. Don't mount you amp with the power input on the right and rca input on the left (hence crossing power over rca).

anyone know how to remove the weight in the trunk. i've done countless searches but turned up nothing.

corsair 11-10-2003 09:40 AM

that is the weight in the hatch which prevents the trunk from fully opening.

question: If you wire a detector into the homelink, will it power on and off with the car? And do you need any additional connections to the fusebox?

How do I remove dash with stock Nav

I have the stock nav unit and I am not sure how to remove the dash. ( ie real question is what about the screws that are under the rubber mat in the pocket with no nav)?
Thanks

I was helped greatly by a previous and well done post by Scafremon detailing the steps to remove the central dash and console. It was originally posted on another Z site but it appears it is no longer available at its original link. As luck would have it, I had saved the steps as an Adobe Acrobat file. Note that this was for the 2003 Z dash.

Assuming Scafremon will not object, I have placed a copy of the Acrobat file here for downloading:

The use of a magnetized screwdriver will help.
