Dont know what navi to get
AAAAAAAAH... I absolutely hate looking for audio products, because I dont know ****e about em. Im looking for a navigation indash with dvd/cd/mp3. I was looking at the avic d3, but it only has 1 cd slot? Would I have to remove the navi cd to use my music and vice versa? I need something from 700-1000 dollars. Help anyone?

thats pretty annoying, is there an indash navi/cd/dvd/etc that IS full time navi, or has 2 slots? Something around the same price range. I dont know anything about audio and navi products, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can get the Pioneer Avic-D2. It a double din which means it takes up 2 spaces and its full time dvd navi with an extra slot for cd's. It doesnt play dvd's but you can buy the seperate 5 or 6 dvd changer which enables dvd playback. I know ebay has factory refurbished units for 600-700. Thats what i got. All you need to get is the metra installation kit and wire harness and it makes it look like it came like that from the dealer.

Do you have an Ipod? Your best bet is an ipod with a D3, you can still listen to all your beats with the nav dvd in the drive if you listen to your ipod, sat radio, radio, or cd changer.

I have an Eclipse 6610...
Its not in the range you are looking to spend, but it has everything you are looking for.
2 DIN, Ipod, Navigation, 2 disk trays...
I like it and for the guy saying Eclipse is trash, I totally disagree.
There is a thread in this section that I started that has pics, just search for it...

how would you rate the actual navigation on the eclipse? If you say its as good as it is i may do some research and possibly look into switching to one.

The best position for your navigation screen in the Z is the upper/forward cubby. You cannot fit a double-din device there, but you can place an LCD screen there driven by a remote GPS device. That provides a great viewing angle while driving, and it's probably a less costly GPS solution.
What is the best media for GPS devices? It is flash ROM. A ROM-based memory system is faster and more reliable since it uses RAM instead of DVD or HD input/reads.
The ranking of GPS devices:
1) Kenwood (OEM Garmin) is probably the leader now in GPS functions since it's a ROM device that has no moving parts, has exceptionally fast performance, and allows easy and nearly instant updates using downloads from Garmin's webpage.
2) Alpine is very good in every way (e.g., the BlackBird "hybrid" connection to a remote 7" screen is quite good and an interesting solution), but the system lacks the great update-path that Kenwood provides to users.
3) Pioneer and Eclipse are in last place because they still depend upon DVD map-loading (whether this is to RAM, a HD, or simply DVD-based). This is old technology, and it is way behind what Kenwood offers.

the only problem i have with this is the fact that i have no cd player where my cd player is supposed to be. I wanted a screen to fill that, because my cd player jammed and its not even worth fixing.

The navigation is off by I'd say 100 feet, but I'm sure that can be fixed somehow in the calibration set up. (example, i was in my dad's driveway and it said i was about 2-3 houses down)
Its very nice because it has tons of icons for gas stations, grocery stores, golf courses, places to eat (i laugh when i see the lil burger king logo show up), etc etc etc.
Very easy and simple to follow, and the voice directions give you more than enough time to catch your turns.
I like it because with the two disk drives, I can leave the disk in for the navigation and then I have the other one for a CD or a DVD.
