And they said it couldn't be done...

Ported molded sweet lookin subwoofer enclosure. I been wanted a nice under tower enclosure for so long, but couldn't find one ported... so I finally wasted my money and had a custom one made, and I am so happy I did... It's just so much deeper and louder.

I actually have a full system put in now, only took 20 freaking hours cause I wanted to get the cleanest lookin install I could. Infinity Reference components up front, Coaxial rears, and an Infinity Kappa 10inch dual voice coil sub in that ported box, bein run off of a mobile spec 5 channel amp... I forget the amp ratings, and an Eclipse cd5000, I believe is the number, head unit. Sound is crystal clear... not too much bass, not too much highs, but loud enough that I am sure if I had a roadster, I'd still hear it at full throttle and than some. Gonna have to wait till friday to get pic's up because the car is getting pics taken than on an actually worthy digital camera.

I am about to go wash the car up and get pics of it all... and almost every after market custom box builder you see on ebay and quite a few websites tried to say you can't make a ported box that fit under the strut tower bar... welp, my boys at On The Go Audio in Boyertown PA hooked me up. It took almost 10 hours to get it to fit just perfectly. And the sound is amazingly clean. Only thing is that it is of course only a single 10 inch sub... but I got a good quality one by Inifinity, the kappa series, daul voice coil. Sounds nice.

yeah... i'm lazy... i didn't wash it, and take pics, i went out with the guy that made the box for me and got him a couple beers for his hard work. The only pic that has been taken so far was on a guys camera phone... but I'll see if I can get him to send that to me to put up for now.

pics would definetly be cool :)

but the whole thing about ported box going DEEPER than sealed boxes, is a little misleading IMO...depending on what you port it at, but i have yet to see a ported box, that can reach down lower than a sealed box in the etreme low end...ported boxes fall off rapidly below their tuning frequency, and usually that isnt ridiculously low...

so int he subsonic end, stuff that you feel rather than hear, sealed enclosures still have teh advantage IMO. but around the port tuning freq, you should have a nice little bump :)

I bet it sounds great but wasnt cheap. Do you have pic?

XIceDragonX Oct 18, 2007 02:22 PM

Oh it wasn't cheap, the installer just took pics tonight, he is gonna load em up on his computer and send em to me sometime while I am at work tomorrow, so hopefully by tomorrow night I'll have some nice actual good camera pictures of it.
