Nice
Just like to add what everyone else here has mentioned -- the Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD is a really nice unit.
I got a little discount and picked it up for $450. It is worth every penny. I have seen it about $100 less online though.
A couple of observations:
--really like the fact that the illumination is changeable. You can change the color to match the orange/amber lighting of the Z's gauges.
--iPod connection is great. I have my cable up into the cubby above the head. (obviously, I don't have the Nav in my Z) Close the door and no one can see the iPod.
--as others have mentioned. You don't need a bypass switch installed to have the DVD to play. As joe645733 says, just pull the parking brake up one click and the DVD cut off is overridden. One click will not hurt anything. My parking brake is so loose I have to pull it up all the way before it even engages.
This is one hell of a unit. I highly recommend.
Nice pic by enlite, exactly as it looks.

I just orderd this head unit and was planning to run the front and rears using stock Bose amps with the PAC ROEM adapter and adding a 10" sub and amp. I'm am now seeing that there is no dedicated sub outs, is this setup possible with this headunit?

Am I the only one that thinks the new 4000 looks like its straight outta Tron? The touch screen 'buttons' are finicky and tiny and the background is uber 1-dimensional. Yeah I know, you get what you pay for but I would rather have the old D3 or even the dreaded F70 or F90.

Very nice looking unit and I'm glad to see the positive reviews. I almost got the AVH-P4000DVD for my S14 and now I wish I had! I got the FH-P8000BT instead due to budget and it's built in Bluetooth.
Now I'm researching for upgrading the audio on my G and I'm considering the AVH-P6000DVD. I know it's twice the price of AVH-4000DVD, but it has in-dash 6-disc changer like my OEM unit, which is a very attractive feature for me.
Does anyone else have any experience or knowledge about the reviews on this unit?

I need to post pics of my setup, i have an 160GB Drive hidden behind the seat, powered via USB. I had to reformat the hard drive when i bought it into FAT32 and got it working.then later I ran into random problems where the hard drive wouldnt work. At first i thought i was the cable sinces i would disconnected and connected...started working...found out that the pioneer unit barely had enough power to make the hard drive work, so i bought a USB adapter 12V to 5V ...now it works PERFECT! i love it.
