Speaker Door Pods

I've been doing some research about getting door pods for my car and was about to get the Nazar door pods, until I came upon some local shop and had them make me these speaker door pods. I like how they look and the sound is amazing. What you guys think?

very nice! how do you like those speakers????

We may have copyright infringement here. Those look exactly like the WickedCas door pods Nazar makes!! Hope he doesn't find out!!

BTW: They do look nice.

they look fine, but to be honest, i prefer nazar's pods better, they are of a flsuh mounted design and seem to follow the contours and the edges of the door better. other htan that, i guess what i am saying is, i am not sure the advantage of doing these vs nazar's pods?

how much did you pay for these?

Are they copyrighted? :icon14:

Besides, this isn't exactly a brilliant discovery or invention, it's a pod that a few people make already.

haha! Werd! +1. A door pod is a door pod. There is only so much you can do with them! Pricing? I PM'd the OP.. he said the price was $250, but the projectX guy would sell them for $200 as a group buy price (5 ppl min). Anyone else in?

Door pods are door pods and there really isn't much that can be done. Besides, having it done locally saved the time of waiting for shipping.

They look fairly decent, I just prefer how Nazar's pods are flush and blend in perfectly with the factory interior. I have been to a couple audio shops for various items and all of them were really impressed with Nazar's pods.

The speaker and its grille look great, but the pod looks add-on and a little “pig boat.”

I agree with others on this thread that Nazar’s pods would provide a better looking installation.

I’m sure the sound is really good though.

hehe, someone say pods? lol

Bing, are those 8"s in those doors?

Man I tell ya, after my C6 Corvette system, I've REALLY been jonesin' to do a 3 way setup for front stage in the 350 consisting of 8" midbasses in the doors and 5.25" midrange and a tweeter in some kicks.

I've been waffling on it though, because I wasn't aware anyone was building a door pod that would house 8's. Man you gotta PM me bing!

I had both 8's and 10's (at different times obviously) in the doors of the Corvette, and I really loved the feel of those midbasses in the doors hitting with the kickdrums, etc...

yeah, that would be a iridium 8" in there :)

i am myself more of a 6.5" midbass person, but i can understand why people would like to have 8s hehe. send me a PM if you want to get the 8" pod and kicks, thats acutally something i can build here :)

If you look closely at your Pic, Bing’s edge on the pod looks more finished (flared slightly for a closer fit).

Questions:
  1. Is that a midrange along with the tweeter in the kick (a three way component)?
  2. It appears that your kick allows resting your foot on the dead pedal; So you can rest your foot on the dead pedal?

spike, thats how i always do 3 ways in Gs and Zs with the DLS 3 way sets :) the midranges and tweets work well off axis and they are small enough to be lfusehd into the stock kick. but DVflyer has since gone way up interms of locations and tuning and power and everything hehe

Yup. It's part of the DLS 6.3i 3-way set.
Yup yup. The mid can be flush mounted into the kick to save the dead pedal.

Honestly, though, even though keeping the usage of the dead pedal was my original plan, with the door pods angled like they are, I stopped using my dead pedal. Now that I have my kicks back to stock (see the other thread to see what I have now) I still don't use my dead pedal. :)

What he said. :icon44: I'm hookin' it up with Bing.

I would like to try 8" midbasses in the doors too, but they would probably rattle too much. A kick panel 8" midbass would be sweeeeet. :)

This is what I did as a quick way to get the 3-way components a bit more on-axis. Using a Morel 3-way kit.
The speaker grill is cusom made by a friends CNC shop. I have the same design for my subs behind the seats.

This will be redone as I have other plans to redo the complete doorpanel and integrate the pod into the design.
