decent sound

I currently have the non Bose OEM headunit with OEM speakers. They seriously sound like crap, and I want some iPod action. If I just get that USA spec thing and replace the speakers w/o getting a new HU, would I get decent sound?

I'm not looking for anything spectacular, just... not the piece of paper w/ a magnet speakers that our cars come with.

What are some good bang for the buck speakers? I am really really trying to minimize cost.

I feel you on this one. My 94 Integra sounds better with some 120 dollars HU and 2x free front speakers that came with the purchase of the HU. lol

Thanks!

Call pac audio and verify, they can explain it to you. but basically the AAI-NIS2 device plugs into the back of your factory stereo and then your factory stereo plug, then plugs after the NIS2......ITS A Y-CABLE CONNECTION, INLINE, whatever you wanna call it.

then from there when you hit the "RADIO" button on your factory stereo, it will skip from "FM1 - FM2 - AM - THEN MAGICALLY (due to NIS2) IT WILL JUMP TO SAT1 - THEN SAT2.

The NIS2 gives you SAT1 and SAT2 auxilary ports out of it.

you connect to those ports via RCA connections, so you would have to get a radio shack RCA to mini jack adapter and then run the wire where ever you wanted it in the car, like the cup holder console between the driver and passenger seat..etc..

If you really want to minimize cost and get decent sound then stay away from the hype you'll hear.

Believe it or not, speakers have been around for a long time and the dynamics involved in creating them has grown with them too. Paper cones are still used in very high end systems because of particular sound qualities and I think you'll see a trend back to basics in car audio, once folks realize they've been taken.

Look around for a few names, Vifa, Peerless, HiVi, Seas, better value for the price.
