Default PETITION for TSB to fix Bose Stereo problems

Please ignore this thread if you do NOT have the Bose Stereo system, and please do not say we are just a bunch of whiners!
PLEASE DO NOT DISCUSS YOUR BOSE PROBLEMS IN THIS THREAD!
Please use this thread ONLY TO VOTE to create a petition!

Please save those discussions for another thread!
Please Private Message me regarding any questions related to this thread.
Pretty please?
Thanks!

All individuals that opted to purchase a Nissan 350Z Touring had no choice but to pay a premium for the Bose/Clarion sound system.
This actual cost of the Bose/Clarion sound system is hidden somewhere in the price difference between the base prices of the Performance model ($30,530) and the Touring model ($33,280):
http://www.nissannews.com/nissan/200.../pricing.shtml
This price difference is $2,750, some of which indicates the price for the Bose/Clarion Sound System.

The inferiority of this "premium" Bose/Clarion sound system is a popular topic on many 350Z boards; I am sure that Nissan is NOT oblivious to the many complaints they have received.

This inferiority is not related to the TSB NTB02111 regarding the problem with the Bose/Clarion AudioPilot:
http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/nissa...ssan/54181.asp

The AudioPilot problem was [supposedly] resolved as of January 2003, and the fix is included in all 350Z models manufactured since then.

In general, the sound quality of the Bose/Clarion sound system is inferior to the stock system in some economy cars!
350Z owners that have taken their car in for service and receive a loaner have commented about how much better the sound system was in their loaner!

Many attempts by individuals to discuss this problem with Nissan have been passed off as "resolved".
This message thread is an attempt to quantify the number of individuals that are unsatisfied with their Bose/Clarion sound system.
Knowing this number is an important step towards pursuing any action with Nissan.

Please use the voting links above so that some of us can decided what action to take.

Thank you!

[BUMP]

STAGGERING statistics!

37 out of 38 people say their Bose Stereo has poor sound quality!

If you have not voted, PLEASE DO!

I would consider "critical mass" on this issue to be 50, so please help us get there.

If we can succeed in getting 50 people to sign an official petition that would be a GREAT start!

Think about it:
50 people complaining means ~$1,750,000 captial to Nissan!
And these are just the people on this board.
Imagine how many other people NOT on this board are dissatisified with their Bose?

I think we need one more option:
I hade my Bose system "fixed" and the sound quality is still poor.

Yeah, I did not realize that I cannot edit the question after they are posted.
Anyways, that option is inferred by the last choice.

Exactly that would have been my vote.

I also agree the wording is not adequate for those of us who have had the fix done at dealer or own a post fix car.

It might be worthwile having the pole redone or modified... to include those specifics AS WELL AS have the owners include their VIN#.
This will add credentials to the complaint as Nissan will have internal documents reflecting the cars are in fact a touring model and have had the "initial" fix done. It is truly sad we have to group like this to get what we expected and paid for. The Premium system is in fact Substandard, particuarly for this day and age.

Thanks for the input. I will be posting the proposed actual petition tomorrow. I will include your input, as well as a form to put in your VIN #.

We have over 100 votes, with 94% of them saying the Bose is poor quality!
Nissan WILL hear us!

OK, the petition is up and running on my site.

A few warnings:
1) I am still putting the finishing touches on the code that runs the page
2) I am still putting the finishing touches on the wording of the petition.

Things should work, but please let me know if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions.

The Nissan/Bose petition can be found at:

http://www.swooby.com/z/stereo/petition/

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS URL!

Thank you

Pv

Sorry to sound like a stuck parrot, but I'll only post this once...

129 people have voted as having complaints about the Bose system.
Only 31 signatures are on the petition:
http://www.swooby.com/z/stereo/petition/

It's a free country and you are more than welcome to NOT sign the petition for any reason you want, but let me state the following:

If you have ever had a complaint about the sound quality of your Z's Bose stereo then it is in everyone's best interest if you show your support and sign the petition.
Even if you no longer care about your Bose stereo, you would be doing the rest of us a great favor by signing the petition.
"United we stand..."
You can always waive your right to be compensated at a later date...but why would you do that?

Getting as many authentic names as possible on that petition is high priority.

Thanks!

I can't speak for anyone else but the reason I did not follow through with the petition is remedy 2 that has to do with their future way of doing business and future sales, for all I know they may have corrected the situation in the 2004 cars do we know for sure if there's still a problem with the new cars? As they state in the literature it's a new retuned system why would I be get involved with that

Thanks for the feedback.
The petition, as is currently worded, was originally a proposal that few people commented on so I assumed it was OK.
You feedback is important, and hopefully we can reword it so that more people will agree with it (and still keep all current signers in agreement).

Remedy 2 only refers to the "existing" system that is being complained about, meaning the 2003 model.
If the 2004 model has been modified, then it is not the system that we are complaining about.
I can reword this for clarity.

In general, I felt Remedy 2 was necessary because I am sure Nissan is still selling 2003 Tourings and people are being mislead in to thinking that the Bose is a sound upgrade from the Stock.
Definitely there is a need for the purchaser to have the option of a stereo other than the Bose...this goes for 2004 models too!

Once we get Nissan's and Bose's attention, if ever, then we can work on some compromises.
If they agree to even PART of the overall remedies then that is a big plus!
As in all settlements, I just figured we should start with the most that we can realistically ask for and then we'll work it out from there.

If you can propose another wording then please do!
Thanks!

Pv

How about just inserting the model year 2003. Just before350Z in both places

But do we know if the problem has been remedied and the 2004 does meet Nissan/Bose standards and claims?

Exactly!
We don't, which is why I felt it best to leave it generic as "existing".
Still, I can clarify my intentions a bit better...when I get home.

Thanks for the feedback.

I definitely do NOT feel like I am alone, but I would like to have some feedback from people spreading the words on other boards.
I am only a member of https://my350z.com and http://www.350zmotoring.com.
I would like to make sure that other sites are aware of this petition.

Please let me know if you mention this petition on any other boards.

Thanks!

YOU ARE DA MAN Z430HP!
Thanks for posting info about the petition on other web sites!

Yeah, there are 144ish votes at the top of this email, 138ish anti-Bose.
I wish I could get all 138 of them to sign the petition...I suppose they will eventually.
We've got a long ways to go until 1,000 signatures!
