Do you even need the rear speakers?
I've got infinity kappa 6.1's for the front... I'm wondering if I should even bother buying a rear set. Will it make that much of a difference? I'm thinking of just getting a nice h/u and a 2-channel amp and maybe a sub. I'll just disconnect the 2 rear speakers....

My opinion seems to go against what most people will say on here. I tired running just fronts and then eventually put rears in and I think the sound is much more full. Hard to explain but I personally could tell a big difference with and without rears. I am running a nice set of Focals too so it wasn't like I cheaped out on either set.

Ya, i made a big mistake when i didnt put rear speakers and i been upset with my self sense i got the z,first mod was audio system. The reason why i say that is because i can really tell that all the sound is in the front and i have to raise the volume to really get some loud sound. O, fyi mine are alpine type-r and back are stock :/

I think you can do either (just fronts... or fronts with rears) and not be disappointed with the result.
I have Focal 165 V Slim component speakers in the doors (tweeters mounted in the A-Pillars) with Infinity coaxial speakers in the rear speaker space. The sound is decent.
If your budget is limited, “fronts without rears” is a good choice since you don’t need rears to get great sound if you have decent components in the front, and then you save $$ by disconnecting the rears.
If you do install rears (and you must install at least intermediate coaxials in the rear slots), you will need to fiddle with your fader to get the sound that is most pleasing for you (the driver) and your passenger.
One thing that is an absolute: You cannot use the OEM Bose or Clarions rear speakers since they are so bad they only pollute the sound.

Hahaha well.... I think I'm just going to install Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's in the front and the back powered by a Kicker SX900.4 amp... what do you guys think about that?
