What wavelength LED's match the dash orange
 

I have Wadd's aluminum Din Plate and I want to light up the dots with the same color orange as the dash and the Z with a red LED.

Does anyone know what wavelength most closely matches the orange on the gauges and the Red on the Needles?

Also, I think I 'll need dim LED's so they don't blind me at night, right?

Any help would be appreciated.

ou dont ussually have that many options as far as color choice, orange is more common than amber in the coloring.

as far so blinding, you certainly wouldnt want any super powerful LEDs, or yes, youd be a bit distracted. but you may want to consider a prismatic type lens on there to diffuse the light. basicly you can get it at home depot even, it is the sheets that youd put over a flourescent light to spread the light and diffuse it. it does have a visible pattery however, but LEDs are very small, and with nothing to "glow" you will end up just seeing a dot of light.

do a search for eclipse, there is one forum member that retrofitted orange leds into his eclipse head unit. He also posted directions, dont know if he posted the wavelength

good lord, I typed the previous post on a campus computer, guess the keyboard wasnt quite the same as Im used to. heh.

You can add a variable resistor to control the brightness. Just find out what the max current is for the LED's and find a variable resistor to match.

When I did the retrofit of the surface mounted LEDs on my Eclipse 3413, I just got orange/amber LEDs. I didn't worry about wavelength. Generally orange/amber leds all look about the same.

The wavelength is [arm stretched out on both side] this big :D
