Car Video Recoder DVR for Accidents
I am looking to buy an in car front windshield mounted video recorder for my Z that records only the front view (not driver) as you drive.
Of course the main purpose is to protect myself in case any dispute comes up in a car accident.
Few questions.
1. Which ones are recommended? Good in day / night / rain / SNOW conditions with HD recordings. Can also be used during track events to record lap times.
2. Once mounted at the top of the windshield, how easy / difficult is to to hide the power cord along the head liner & passenger A-pillar then down to plug it into the 12V socket in our Z? I don't like to have the power cord dropping down from the center or mount the recorder on the bottom of the windshield.
Thanks.

Here's the install of Blackvue DR350 on my DD. I just finished installing last night so I don't have any sample vid for you yet. It's 100% automated, and it'll erase the oldest file if the memory is full.

It doesn't have a built in display like some of the other ones in the market.

What would possess you to get out of your car in the middle of a highway? Thats the dumbest thing you could do when you get into an accident. That camera came in handy though without that evidence the cop probably would have seen it as your fault. One accident would pay for the camera.
It would be nice if you could wire the camera somehow to record if you are say, inside a store. This could be good to record parking lot accidents and maybe even get the license plate of the car that hits you.

This is the spec of the one I got. You can find videos on youtube. It has something called "Parking Mode" which I thought was pretty neat. I have the DR350 and the quality is so so, but enough to proof what's going on. For $100 more you can get the HD version and you can see all the license plate infront of you.

I also went ahead and purchased the Blackvue DR400G-HD and Power Magic Pro (in order to use parking mode) after more research.
Pricy, but the product looks nice and got a good deal in a group buy.
If it works well, I might install one for the rear.

^Where did you find the group buy if you don't mind me asking? I want to pick up another one for my Z.
I didn't bother with the power magic. The camera itself take 12V. So I just found a random AC adapter with connector that fits, stripped it and tapped into the fuse box. Only thing is I have to remember unplugging it if I don't drive the car for a few days.
Another thing is the firmware is in Korean. You have to update it to the English version unless you understand their language.
