Above's Repair - Upgrade - Mod Thread
Over the next few months, I plan to complete multiple repairs / upgrades to my '03 350z Enthusiast. The goal is to catalog the updates and to provide references for those interested in doing the same. Those worried about another series of DIYs can rest assured - This will drive people to current / well written DIYs. If something is missing, I can add to the already great DIY selection. Thanks for looking - Pics to come.
The List: - Headunit upgrade and bluetooth install: - Suspension upgrade: - Cupholder replacement: - Wheels upgrade: - 194 parking light install: - 6k turn signal install: - Microfiber headliner wrap: - CF Vinyl wrap of rear strut bar cover and waterfall: - Spark plug install: - Bushings replacement and upgarde: - Retrofit knee pads to 03 interior: - Headlamp restoration due to hazing: - LED interior light install: - Headunit upgrade and bluetooth install: The reasons for HU upgrade are simple... the OEM HU blows, both in sound output and inbuilt options. I chose a relatively cheap option to replace it. I went to crutchfield DOT com and selected a Sony Xplod that had both USB and Aux ports in the front. This was important to me as I wanted to be able to charge and select music from the same line. http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2671/4...37211a7b78.jpgAdditionally, this HU enables BT music and calling, which is a legal requirement on military bases. Make sure you purchase the following: 1. HU 2. Wiring Harness 3. Mating Kit for your dash (these kits are universal, but some are better than others) To get access to the HU, you need to completely disassemble the dash. This is by far the best DIY to get you there. Once you have the dash apart, it should look like this http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2538/4...8728dafb97.jpg. Adding the HU to the mating kit is straights forward. The only major rub is forward placement of the HU. It should sit flush with the dash once reinstalled. Here is a pic of the HU with the mating kit not yet installed http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4053/4...6bfa42efbd.jpg. If you are going to do a DIY with pictures I would recommend providing a lot more detail. How did you wire the the HU? What tools were needed? (Etc.)
