Problem with Pioneer nav, doesn't work.
After my recent close encounter with a deer, my Pioneer nav stopped recognizing my Nav data DVD. The unit still plays both CD's and film DVD's, but whenever I put in the nav disc, it starts to read the disc and then soon freezes. There's a message which goes something like "Reading disc data" and that's it.
Any ideas? I figure the laser and internal workings of the unit are fine, as it plays other media. I looked at the DVD itself and I can't find any scratches. I think the next step is to make sure that all the GPS related wires going to the unit are okay, or to find another disc. I miss my nav! |
Try pressing the navi/av button when the system says 'reading disc'

Hmm, which button is that? One on the remote?
I'll give it a closer look. |
did the nav disc get damaged somehow ? Seems weird that the unit will play dvd-video, but not dvd-data ? I would be willing to try to make a copy for you on DVD+R media...if you want ? Let me know if I can help out. However, I do not think that the laser for the data should be any different than the video.

Do you by chance ever leave the disc where sunlight would hit it...
cd's and especially dvd's are very sensitive to this direct heat radiation... and since dvd's use smaller markers for 1's and 0's they are much more easily damaged... -Eric |

Hmm, sorry, I'm running of a Farenheit screen, so I don't have a button on it.
Onecoolee, I'd appreciate it if you could send me another disc. I'll send you a PM. |
Late follow up....mikeef was right.
I ended up buying an update disc, but it really wasn't necessary. There are 2 video outputs and the nav had reset to the wrong one. Problem fixed. |
Wow, took me 2 years to figure that out.

wow, i have never sseen a follow up like this lol
