2007 350z Enthusiast

I have the 350z stock enthusiast model. This does not include the Bose system.

I have a friend who gave me the subwoofer that is installed behind the passenger seat. Is it a plug-n-play for me? Or is there more that I have to do? Does the system come with an amp?

What are my options? I am going the cheap route and If I could just plug in the subwoofer that would be great.

If you dont have the bose model you dont have an amp. You could splice the wires for the rear speakers but its not gonna do much. I dont recall it ever being behind the passenger seat though.

Maybe its behind the driver seat, I didn't actually see it..just heard by mouth.

Basically you need a wiring kit and an amp. You could go cheap and find a used amp on clist and pick up a wiring kit at walmart. im betting you could do it yourself with that stuff for under 100 bucks. install the sub in the original location for the bose system and be done. I guess youll need to find a new panel with a hole for the sub. slidegood will probably have that part.

Hi Smashbrohammer... The good news is your Enthusiast model is equipped with the OEM Clarion CES which is much more easily updated than the Bose system.

The OEM Clarion system has no external amps and no SubW.

You said: “I have a friend who gave me the subwoofer that is installed behind the passenger seat.”

What is the brand of the subwoofer your friend gave you? Did it come from a Bose-Upgraded 350z? If it did, it’s useless to you. It only works with the 350z Bose system and it requires the 350z Bose Subwoofer Amplifier.

I assume that is because it has a connector for the harness on the bose amp? If so, you could just cut the harness off. I see no reason why that wouldn't work.

Spike100 03-22-2015 01:19 PM

Would your recommendation then be to cut off the Bose harness and simply replace this with another connector and nothing else?

Sorry if I am confused about your recommendation.

I would cut the harness and just wire it up to whatever amp you want. I'd have to see the back of the sub but I can't think of any reason why you couldn't do that.

Spike100 03-22-2015 02:14 PM

Would you factor in the ohms resistance and the amplifier power matched to the Subw watts?

Assuming I could find that information yea. If it were me, I wouldnt use that sub to begin with. But since OP has the sub and wants to use one then it should be correctly paired to an amp, if he wants it to work well and last.

Spike100 03-22-2015 02:22 PM

^^ What amp would you suggest?

woody03 03-22-2015 02:37 PM

only info i found on the stock bose sub is that runs .5 ohm. Never seen a sub run that before but I did find a Kicker amp that is stable there. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...42PXA2001.html was the cheapest I found in a quick search. Definitely going to have to keep that amp turned down or youll ruin that sub. I have seen much cheaper used bose amps for sale on ebay so I would probably go that route.

Spike100 03-22-2015 02:48 PM

You make a very good reply. I was setting a minor trap, and you didn't fall for it.

I think that you are now seeing the real problem here.

I noticed. Im not sure how you would get the harness that connects the bose amp and sub though. Im seeing why you say its useless. It would be cheaper overall to buy a new sub and regular 2 or 4 ohm stable amp.

Spike100 03-22-2015 03:02 PM

^^ YES. smashbrohammer has the Bose SubW, but not the Bose external amp, to drive this speaker.

Even having the Bose external amp to drive the Bose SubW is useless if your car is equipped with the 350z OEM Clarion H/U. There is no way to connect the Clarion H/U to a Bose external amp (the link needed to drive the Bose SubW).

smashbrohammer 03-22-2015 04:50 PM

Now I know why my friend gave me the subwoofer for free :werd:
