Auxiliary port, is it possible?
I just bought an 08. No bluetooth. What I'd like to do is to add an aux port to the front of the radio. I did that on a 2001 Toyota and it worked fine, but I had to send it to a guy in California. The other thought would be to replace it with a newer 350/370 Z stock radio, only if the radio comes standard with the aux port.
Does a newer radio come with an aux in port? Are they swappable? And has anyone port a aux port on the faceplate? |

Hard wired fm transmitter (T's directly on antenna cable)

It's not like a stock radio is so valuable that you can't swap in a newer radio with every feature you want for less than 200 bucks. And if you buy from Crutchfield (no affiliation, just like "packages"), you get the install kit & instructions for your specific install, and adapters needed as part of the price of the HU.

I agree with MicVelo. You can get a double din unit fairly cheap and would be a lot more easier than disassembling your stock head unit and pulling out the solder gun. Would sound better and the added features is a plus.

+2 on Crutchfield. Even something as inexpensive as this one will sound far better than the OEM headunit, and has all the features you could want (aux, BT, Pandora, handsfree phone, etc.):

I've decided to go with a pioneer Apple play radio. Going to have best buy do the install. They had to order some parts. Face plate and some adapter to integrate the steering wheel controls with the radio. Will keep posted when it is finished.

Good choice.
