Sound system, fiberglassing, how-to's, etc! Over 100 pics!
Well guys, it's that time again, a new issue of Project ActiveTuning
This time we do the entire sound system. I actually split it up into three seperate issues: - Part 1: Headunit & XM Radio - Part 2: Speakers - Part 3: Amps/Amp Rack/Fiberglassed Sub Enclosure The issues include over 100 pictures, and DETAILED how-to's for installing all of the above things. So, even if you aren't trying to fiberglass a system in your car, but just want to learn how to install a headunit or speakers, read the issues! Anyways, check them out, and let me know your thoughts. You can also post them in our forum (we have a dedicated thread, just look for the link at the bottom of each issue). http://www.activetuning.com/pat/4/7/i/93.jpg http://www.activetuning.com/pat/4/7/i/96.jpg |
Awesome post!

Very nice on the box build up! Doesn't the box raddle with only the fiber glass supporting it?
|
Thanks. What do you mean by only the fiberglass supporting it? To pre-answer your question, it doesn't rattle at all ;)
|
Excellent post...thanks a lot!
|
I haven't read it yet but thanks so much anyways! I'm looking forward to checking it out. Fiberglassing seems like a fun project.

Saw this thing this week-end and pics don't do it justice. He did a great job!!!!
Starting mine tomorrow and mine will look better :icon6: Especially since I now have a step by step model of how to..lol :D:D Wanna help? :icon18: I acutually have one question. Do you have to put the fiberglass on top of the material. I read somewhere that a cheat was to use trunk carpet as the material you stretch. They say that this is strong enough and makes the job faster. Any thoughts? |
Actually normally you are supposed to use this mesh stuff, but it's not that thick at all. The t-shirt really worked out nice. If you are planning to put more power to the trunk, you may want to put more layers on...
