Cop didn't appreciate my V1
 

On my way back from Wendy's, I get stuck at a really long light. No traffic in sight. It's dead quiet... just me waiting for the light to change with my windows down and my sunroof open. All of a sudden my V1 goes berserk. And before I can react, a cop pulls up in the lane to the right of me. So now my V1 has flatlined... those of you with a V1 know how annoying that loud ringing tone is. For those of you that don't, it's like the EKG at hospitals, except you can hear it from a 30 foot radius around the car when its dead silent. I have my V1 smack dab in the middle of my windshield. I had the biggie sized drink in my right hand, which is why I couldn't quickly hit the mute button before the cop pulled up next to me. I can tell from the corner of my eye, he's just staring at me and the V1 with its blinking red lights in clear view. I just froze... not knowing if I should put the drink in the other hand and discretely hit the mute button with the officer staring me down.

So thirty seconds go by with the super annoying, high pitched tone of the V1. I slowly glance over and look at the cop who is in a dead stare with me. i just nod my head awkwardly.

"Interesting taste in music you have there." I just smiled with a goofy grin. The light finally turned green and I just made a left to book it out of there.

I know what that tone sounds like and when its quiet you can hear it a mile away it seems when that thing flatlines. Hehe that musta been an awkward moment.

I love the ones who drive around with it on, its much better than instant-on. I almost think some do it to spare those enthusiasts with detectors. If I was a cop, I would rather ticket the mindless idiots who don't pay attention than people like us, who are constantly alert to our surroundings.

Yeah officer it's almost as annoying as your squeals.

ahahha sounded like he was juss kidding around.. but then again i wasn't there. :D

This ranks as the best thread I have ever read. Personally, I think both you and the cop were really cool. He's probably posted this story on some cop forum somewhere.

Yeah, the cops are really cool in my town, if you are a townie... and not a punk. It's only 2 square miles "big" so not much happens. They let me get away with a lot of crap... knock on wood.

That's partly why I never eat or drink while I'm in my car. lol

I don't use my fuzzbuster anymore, though. My WRX is a total sleeper, it seems. I even watched a Z get pulled over next to me the other day while we were BOTH speeding pretty well. That's one advantage to the Subaru I guess.

god, how can you stand the flatline from the V1 for 30 seconds?! its like that tone from the Emergency Broadcast System.

If I didn't have the drink in my right hand I would have hit the mute button. It doesn't fit in the cup holders on my car. Plus I was kind of frozen in that awkward stage like right after you fart really loud and hope no one hears it, but you are pretty sure they did and you don't know how to react.

Another Mello Yellow "How would you stay cool?" moment. Priceless.
