IT'S MINE!!, FINALLY IT'S ALL MINE!!!!!! pics inside

When people say "they don't make them like they used too" they couldn't be more correct. The same holds true for my favorite amplifiers of all time... old school Phoenix Gold (before they were bought out and the company went overseas).

A friend of mine purchased this at my recommendation a long, long time ago. He used it for 6 months and removed it from his vehicle. He returned it to its original packaging and there it sat for at least 10 years.

Tonight, he gave it to me for being a good friend and always being there for him through thick and thin:icon28: . It was really unexpected and I will compensate him, but he said it would look alot better in my Z than his chevy truck. It's #70 of 300 EVER made.

Here's the pics

Well, basically it was two separate amps bonded together in one heat sink, here's the conservative specs:
MQ430 SPECIFICATIONS:
Into 4 ohms @ 12.5/14.4VDC - 30/50 WRMS x 4
Into 2 ohms @ 14.4VDC - 90 WRMS x 4
Bridged into 4 ohms @ 14.4VDC - 100 WRMS x 2

MS2125 SPECIFICATIONS:
Into 4 ohms @ 12.5/14.4VDC - 125/160 WRMS x 2
Into 2 ohms @ 14.4VDC - 255 WRMS x 2
Bridged into 4 ohms @ 14.4VDC - 510 WRMS x 1

Because of the heat generated it isn't stable down to .5 ohms like my old MPS-2240 was but Im pretty sure It can drive down to 1 ohm stable, makin some sick power...

I believe back in 1992 when it was released it was about $1500-$2000. It's kinda hard to say since the 300 that were made were snatched up pretty quick.

Now I have to lose my JL stealth box and redesign my sub setup from scratch, I'll be damned if I'm gonna use stamped metal basket subs with this amp... I need cast basket subs and a new enclosure.

Ahsmo Jan 10, 2007 06:45 PM

omg I love that amp. I love all pg products for the most part

gNaRKiLL Jan 10, 2007 09:11 PM

Thats a crazy amp

I found a company name Aura back in the day and bought an amp.

It was a 6 channel maybe 300w amp, I had it wired to 3 pioneer diamond plate subs and it was the loudest some***** I have ever heard, was all stolen in less than 2 weeks

Anyone know where I can get the aura MR series amps anymore?

JimRHIT Jan 11, 2007 02:02 AM

Nice amp!

For some perspective on old school PG amps.

I benched my M44 TD white/copper chassis (rated 40Wx4) at ~101x4rms@4ohms

350zspl Jan 11, 2007 04:57 AM

that was a very unselfish gesture , good friend

you can fit it in there

nice to have a limited production piece

not digging the fact that it is not 1 or 2 ohm stable

also it needs at least 14 volts to make rated power, and rated power for an amp that large in size is dissappointing

but in all fairness it is 1992 technology , and 15 years later we are able to get more watts out of a smaller package , more effciently , and lower temps

i like the amp , enjoy it , it is like new and , with all the orginal stuff

peace

paypal $800 ?

savvy Jan 11, 2007 05:20 AM

being so old i wonder how it stacks up against amps today, even the $300 4 channel amps today.

Z_rican Jan 11, 2007 05:27 AM

That's a big a$$ amp. Good luck with the install, and post some pics once you are done.

Better. Moder amps these days tend to have more 'bling' than 'go'. These amps were built for sound quality competition

mike929 Jan 11, 2007 07:37 AM

I just a lurker thinking about getting a 350Z, but info to share

I like the old school stuff myself...don't get me wrong i acknowledge the new stuff and accept it...just sentimental i guess for the old school

I still have my first amp I ever got about 12yrs ago..PPI art series amp..love it

I have found someone on ebay that carries nothing put the old good stuff...anyone interested should check him out..i haven't got anything from him..but his rating and reviews looks good and the detailed pics look great...so might be worth a look

his ebay id is " justonemoreamp "

OM-GAWD Can you surf on that thing?

I have a Phoenix Gold Xenon 200.4 it is 200 x 4 RMS (200W x 4 ... 4-1 ohm stereo)...using it to power the 2 sets of 6.5 Titanium 6 Comp Elite components, which handle 300 RMS.

r0mey Jan 11, 2007 08:37 AM
