ED Nine.5 Installed (Carputer, DLS kicks, etc) *updated*
--
EDIT: Added some updated pics below -- Since I asked around and no one responded w/ any ED nine.5 installs i figure i'd contribute and post my install. No comprehensive build pics or anything like that here. Just pics of the amp install and some misc gear pics. All the stuff has been running for a few yrs now - i figure i'd just get a diff amp and make it look a little nicer. Amp was huge but found a way to install it w/o taking out the spare and still keep it relatively hidden. Not as stealth as installing from the spare tire location, but it works for me (wanted to keep spare, utilize existing box for mount to add as little weight as possible, etc). Running DLS MS6s in Bing's kicks, sub is ran through Mike's "Type S" enclosure. Amp and x-overs are mounted on "ears" made from MDF mounted to his box to extend it's width. Wires all tucked, hidden etc. carpet to cover everything up will probably be added to ensure you can't see the cut-outs. Amp panels: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...anelclosed.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...nelclosed2.jpg Amp & xovers showing: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...oGiE-X/amp.jpg Sub control switch & misc switches (carpc acc line, monitor pwr line) http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...E-X/switch.jpg Center console: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...-X/console.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...X/console2.jpg View from behind: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...oGiE-X/sub.jpg CarPC loading: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...-X/loading.jpg "Head unit" i made using an imon controller, and a slim slot DVD drive mounted together (i'll probably redo this and center the imon controller - not as 'stock' looking as i'd like): http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...X/headunit.jpg Misc Front end pics(Roadrunner w/ modified BMV skin): http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...X/frontend.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...iE-X/songs.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...oGiE-X/gps.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...OoGiE-X/eq.jpg And finally, carputer pics. It's behind the Bose panel on a glove compartment box mounted on there. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i.../bosepanel.jpg Mounted to plastic 'hidden' tray that's removable for maintenance, upgrade, etc. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...X/compguts.jpg ============================================================ ======== Updated: Dash - CF overlay for the win: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...E-X/CFDash.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...-X/CFDash3.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...-X/CFDash2.jpg CF Vinyl: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...iE-X/CFAmp.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...E-X/CFAmp2.jpg Sorry for the bad pics - it's late and lighting in my garage is not so great. |

I don't care for carputers, but I like some of the other bits.
|
Love the custom "headunit" and carputer. It was a tough decision but I opted to tock the avic-d3 rather then install another carputer in the Z.

Do you have any pics of your kicks?

I'll add it later when i get back from dinner, etc. |
Do they just mount on the door panel and bring the speaker out?
|
Great job man.

Nice!

Fun stuff, I have burned through some eD, DLS, JL, Memphis, Polk SR, ADS, gear etc... and still think back to the value and quality of the eD stuff. Nice install and gear.

Nice just ordered a nine.5 myself and planned something similart to what u did with ur amp. Did u make ur own amp rack or modify a existing aftermarket one?
|
That eD is huge...how'd you get the Z emblem in the center of the gui...? great job.

You just adjust it's dimensions so it fits over where you want it, then overlay it directly over that spot. |

That allowed for some space to mount the xovers as well. Beware of all the curves with the rear panels if your mounting it in the same place I did. If your sub is mounted in one of the many understrut boxes, an install like this one would not only be a lot easier to implement, it is definitely a lot more 'stealth' than at the angle i did mine... |
do you mind posting the spec's of your carputer.
