Orders and deposits

After I heard some dealers were now taking refundable deposits based upon test drive I've been looking to place an order. Today I came across something very interesting.

Last weekend I discovered a friend of a friend happens to be a Nissan dealer in Sydney so off I went to place an order. He showed me a letter from Nissan Japan distributed to all dealers by Nissan Australia. It states that a AUD$5000 non refundable deposit is required on the 350Z. Without the confirmed deposit the order wil not be accepted and the car won't be built let alone shipped. The dealer is responsible for this deposit no matter what. ie If the sale doesn't go through the dealer is still up for the $5000 so he was surprised to hear that any dealers were taking $500 deposits let alone refundable ones.

So my question is which dealers in Sydney are doing this? I'd like to place an order and if I could narrow the field it'll save me a lot of phone calls and driving all of Sydney.
Thanks.

A good friend of mine is Adrian Castaleno: GM at Sutherland Nissan, 02 9545 7128. He will take car of you and won`t pressure you or give you any crap sales pitch. He is a nice and honest guy.

I told him a guy from the 350z forum might call so just mention my name. Peter

Col Crawford Nissan Brookvale in Sydney

Sales Rep Craig Vale

Mention me Michael Rizk and probally tell you what a hassle I am :)

Let us know what happens.

Depends on the dealer. I rang 3 dealers and all said 5k deposit except one that wanted 10k. I told him he could shove it.

I do think the letter is legit but can you really buy something that you have not seen? I think you would win in small claims court.
