Supercharger

Im only talking this specific example, not the general Turbo vs Supercharger debate. In general I agree with you but with this specific example IMO(in my opinion) the APS TT would be putting more stain on the tranny than this supercharger.
You havnt owned a stillen supercharged 350z and the APS TT Zed. We are talking low power supercharged 350 vs high power twin turbo zed.
I do think this supercharger is putting more strain on the engine, but the APS TT is putting out alot of power compared to this supercharger and most of your gear changes are occuring much higher in the rev range which is still putting strain on the tranny.

Cool,
I see in your sig that your getting the NISMO heads along with alot of other stuff. What is your desired final compression ratio for your system when its complete?
Ive been researching the heads recently,
Heads__2000
Valves _799
Springs_240
Cams__1200
US$4239 = AU$6100
Thats with no shipping or install or tax.
If you added tax = AU$7625 then install ~$1500+ = ~$9000
Most can get around the tax thing, but I'll put it in for those who dont.

What compression
I will be consulting with Peter from APS on this. Since I am considering APS TT, the Nismo gear might be a bit of a waste, unless I go over 9psi. If I did build the internals, I would want APS input on configuration.
Anyway... pissed it's wet in Sydney here tonight, and I took a right hander to quick and got the back right out and got a scratch on the front right guard from of all things a median strip bummer... still learning this setup for the wet.

Panels
It's no sweat with the panels. I was going to have it sent to the panel beater anyway because I'm getting the hamburger removed and bogged on the front before a complete front end respray. The front end paint is so thin.. the worst I have ever seen on a car. My ford has such nice thick paint.
Your going the Nismo stuff soon? Would love to hear how it goes!!

Yes the paint is a bit questionable, but they had to cut some corners to get such a well priced car
I wont be going ahead with the heads for the moment, i'll just be doing the cams and rod bolts, or cams and rods, or cams, rods and pistons. I dont really want to get high comrpession pistons because if I do get the heads later my compression will be up around 14.0:1!! Which just doesnt work on street fuel, so I might hold off on the pistons till I get the heads, or i'll just get stock compression forged pistons to prepair for the heads in the future.

The Z power oversteers wickedly in the wet and once it starts turning on you, you need large handfulls of opposite lock to try to bring the rear back in line. Unfortunately, most of the time opposite lock then leads to a tank slapper in the other direction!!!
Anyhow, good thing the damage was limited to just a few scratches.

DJ when you get the front done have them look at plastic welding as opposed to bog. Plastic welding will flex with the movement of the front bar as opposed to the bog which is more brittle and may crack due to the flexing of the plastic. Mine is welded and I was wrapped withe the result.

Also, came across this site on another forum. Ddn't look to see if they ship internationally but there's always ways around that.
Might be an option to some that are considering a new front

nice
Thanks for the info! I will definitely check out the bog alternative!
Re40s? I got rid of those after a week. I'm now running big wide pirelli rossos... although in the wet, with my new stiff suspension and sway setup, they slip just as easily. haha.

By the way the 350z Kompressor as you call it lives in Waverton, very close to one of the offices I work in. I've passed it like I always do but realised that it's something different about it. I didn't realise it until a while later that it was the 350z with stillen supercharger.
The hood doesn't look OK and it's a lot bettter then the photos, It's also not very intrusive and it's quiet easy to miss for the untrained eye, at least on silver that is.

The owner has had it on the dyno but I have not seen the results.
From memory I think he said he was a little dissapointed by the printout but not by the driving experience.
The Stillen is not a high rev high power conversion but more like what a manufacturer would put out. Simmiler to 3.2 Merc kompressor or the Supercharged V6 Commadore.
Lots of low down grunt, great for city driving & those short bursts between the lights

Cool, so you've seen it. Ask him to take you around the block.
Doesnt look OK or Does?

sorry for the confusion, it does look good. I'm not quiet sure what the us guys are talking about when they say that it's ugly.
As for the ride in the car, well I only ever see the car and not the owner. I also have been working in the city recently so I didn't even see the car.
