'05 Track Power Upgrade

Wouldn't it rip yer!

New Track 224 kw (300 hp).

Fuggen. Now I'll start savin' up.

Should have been at least that in the start.

FRIZZLE

lionking 09-26-2004 04:04 PM

They should stop friggin around and put 900hp in the thing. Then EVERYONE would start savin up.

Scandrew 09-26-2004 04:12 PM

Where'd you get that info from frosty?

Now we'll see all the < 2005 cars plummet in price as everyone's trying to replace them with the '05 track. hehe

Z350Lover 09-26-2004 05:15 PM

Frosty:

Where about do you see that news? or just a rumour?!

cheers,

richie

scathing 09-26-2004 05:22 PM

Coincidentally, the Nismo Fairlady Z S-Tune GT makes that amount of power....

Z350Lover 09-26-2004 06:20 PM

scathing.... you are correct..... that's what I am thinking... it might be the engine which produces 221KW from the engine and the RPM goes all the way to 7200.... that's the engine I am planning to do too.... yummy!

cheers,

richie

I saw this info in the US thread, but has it been verified for our shores?

nuff 09-26-2004 07:40 PM

That news is from the main board, the power upgrade is only the Track version, but who knows what sort of power australia will get.

Here's something to amuse ;

Cost of Z in USA - approx $32,000US - in our currency $45,000.

Who gets the other $20 big ones?

And don't tell me USA has no duties, etc.

BILLIOUS FRIZZLE

I'm goin' home :

If we get it at all it'll be at a higher price. Keep in mind there are a heap of Japanese cars where we only get the low spec engine so don't be surprised if we keep the current model.

mchapman 09-27-2004 01:54 AM

I wouldnt be suprised either.

Remember any price quoated in the states does not include state taxes which can be as high as 10% but the average is around 8 to 8.5 %

nang3 09-29-2004 10:59 PM

I'd happily pay 10% on 45K.. its already 4% for stamp doody anyway... $49,500 is a bargain for a Z, esp a Track hehe..

damn AUS govt and its greedy import duties/domestic market protection policies !!

Peter (Nathan):

Lets say.... if I have a Nismo S1 engine in my car (the one with 221KW) and running with Nismo ECM as well.... does it mean that I will still need to use Unichip/SAFC to piggy back the Nismo ECM to fix the Fuel problems that we have in Australia (98 Octane v.s. 101 Octane)?

Or will I be fine with just the Nismo ECM in my car while running 98 Octane fuel?!

cheers and thanks!

The upgrade in power is in the top end of the rev range plus it's at the expense of torque.
To much cost for such a small gain it'll be $5000 - $8000 more for the higher spec model if we get it which I dout very much we will.

I dont think he is considering actually purchasing the engine.

He would most likely be doing the mods included in the S1 engine i.e. Cams, VTC Puley, Rod Bolts and get his ECU reflashed to S1 spec to take control of all the new modifications.

You should be OK with the JD Nismo ECM with 98RON.
I would put it on a dyno when finished & have them listen for knock with an amplified knock sensor. If there is any knock your Nissan Dealer can take out up to 4 deg with the Consult & that I would think would be enough. If not you would have to use a Unichip or the likes.

ZZZ-35
It is a myth that power is at the expense of torque.
HP is torque with different math applied. It might not show an increase in max tq but if its making more power its making more tq.
This Z motor has an amazing tq spread & while cams may not raise the max tq level much it does put it higher in the rev range with very little drop off (if any) in the lower range.

Z350Lover 09-30-2004 03:05 PM

Thanks Peter! Really appreciate for your help!!! I doubt not many people will know the zed more than you in australia! Appreciate for your help!

I am still considering the pros and cons with N/A mod V.S. TT mods... I do like the TT power, but without the internal changed, am concerning at how long will the engine last with constant push (daily driver like me)... that will be the biggest concern for me so far.

cheers,

richie

Unless they find something specifcally responsible, which can be corrected, for some of the FI cars in the US dieing you are running a definate risk if you dont build up the rods and pistons. If your not prepared to risk a blown motor then I wouldnt go FI without bigger rods and pistons, but if you are prepared to take that risk then no dramas. :)

ZZZ-35 09-30-2004 06:56 PM

Ok FI is a risk with the present kits (Stillen being the safest) but there are good reason the US cars are breaking, there appears to be an inherent problem with one of this engines compoents that APS discovered during it's development of the TT and stongly believes this is the cause, unforunately I can't disclose this info at this time (it's not the conrods). This not the only cause bad tuning is the major one APS's development car is running at 9psi and has seen 12psi with no ill effects, anyway time will reveal all.

These are my opions of the situation and not any offical ones.

David
