Whatever's clever for you, just keep racing!

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. This is my second autocross season, and I am not ready for R-compound tires. Goodyear tires are predictable. Of course the do break traction, but the slide is gradual. Very pleased with performance.

That is a very wise decision. You will be a very good driver, very soon.

the general way to get those #'s is doing all the mods, plus going to the max specs for the engine...SCCA rules specifiy the tolerances you're allowed to do to an engine (b/c ppl will need to rebuild an engine), so if you 'rebuild' it, you can squeeze out more power.

I'm at 262 WHP on my BSP Z...I've got all the mods allowed (but no rebuild of the engine)

here's my BSP Z:

Just wanted to clarify a couple of points I've seen here. I've been running a BSP Z for a couple years now (no where near competitive yet, the drivers need to improve).

1) you can't just upgrade to the brembo system from the track Z. This comes from the B Stock rules (which are the base rules for BSP, with only a few exceptions). You can only do this if you take the entire car to Track spec, ie- install the VDC (if that's even possible), etc. Otherwise, you're not allowed to change disc diameter. And the rules make no mention of a caliper change, although I'm not sure whether the Brembo system utilizes a significantly different caliper. Basically, if you go to a BBK system, welcome to SM2...welcome to my world.

2) The real threat in BSP, at least in a national Pro Solo format is the STi's and Evos. With all wheel drive and forced induction that can easily be cranked up to 400 horsepower within the rules, I think a Z would be hard pressed to compete at a national level. I would go so far as to think it impossible, as sad as I am to say that. The rules need to change

Ahh, the dreaded AWD cars. All of the disadvantages of a FWD car, and very few (none?) of the advantages of a rear wheel drive car.

The AWD rally cars go straight *really* well, however turning is not their strong suit. On the other hand, the Z does a decent job of accelerating, very well at turning, and very well at stopping. For ProSolo, the AWD Rally cars are hard to beat, but at Solo, it would be a race.

but the AE-86 of Mt. Akina beat the LAN EVO...so the Z can beat them too (just need skills like Takumi )!

Boost mods are legal in BSP for the turbo cars, it's going to suck to be down 100hp to start with.

That is incorrect... The "update/backdate" allowance in SP allows you to pick and chose parts from any car on the same line in the Solo rules, so in this case any part off another 350Z can be used. A guy with a base model can upgrade to the factory track pack brakes and if a guy with a track wanted a smaller lighter brake, the BSP Corvette guys do this, you can put the smaller base brakes on. This also happens on the CSP Miata's, the 13" wheels will not fit over 98' and up brakes so they must backdate to the early 1.6 Miata brakes.

However to be legal you must use factory parts, except the rotor which can be cross-drilled/slotted but must be OE diameter, no aftermarket calipers or brackets to facilitate the install.

15.1.C. Equipment and/or specifications may be exchanged between
different years and models of a vehicle if (a) the item is standard
on the year/model from which it was taken, and (b) the years/
models are listed on the same line of Appendix A (Street Prepared
Classes). The updated/backdated part or the part to which
it is to be attached may not be altered, modified, machined or
otherwise changed to facilitate the updating/backdating allowance.
Standard factory installation methods, locations, and configurations
are allowed. The updating and/or backdating of engines,
transmissions or transaxles must be done as a unit; component
parts of these units may not be interchanged. Cars not
listed in the Street Prepared sections of Appendix A may not be
updated/backdated until approved by the SEB and published in the
official SCCA publication.

I must have misunderstood this rule. But what your citing is a rule that says that you may update a part that comes standard for a different year. Is something that comes on a Track model standard for an enthsiast model, etc.? The rule I was citing comes from the stock rule (which is the base rule before the exceptions for Street Prepared are outlined):

Option package conversions may be performed between specific
vehicles of a particular make and model, but only between
configurations from within a particular model year. Such
conversions must be totally complete and the resultant car must
meet all requirements of this Section
. Alternate parts listed in a
factory parts manual are not authorized unless their use is
specifically referenced in the factory service manual or in a service
bulletin for the specific model.

Maybe I misunderstood. If so, I appoligize and stand corrected. So, by this interpertation, I can use the wheels from the track Z in BS? (I know this isn't a stock thread, but you seem to be an authority, and I'm curious).

The rules are different for stock. ULLOSE is referring to BSP which doesn't have the same requirement to do the complete conversion. BSP has the update/backdate provision. If you put the Track wheels on your Enthusiast, then you'll be in BSP.

You are misunderstanding it... The rules are not backwards compatible. In Stock a conversion must be 100% complete as if it had rolled of the assembly line. Stock does not get any allowances outside of stock. SP gets the stock allowances plus what is outlined in section 15 which includes update/backdate.

Yup, pretty much everything you've done takes you out of stock -- except the exhaust (as long as its a cat-back).
