Trying to get an idea of what are you guys running for track only. I'm trying to get me a set for tracking but what to see what are you guys sporting. please post your rim/tire size and suporting mods(ie suspension/brakes)

Track, street, it's all the same setup for me since I run HPDE's and Redline's Street class for time attacks. Swift springs, Tokico D-Specs, 245/40 and 275/40 BFG KD's on 18" Nismo LMGT4's with Project Mu B-Force pads all around. If I run Modified class it'll be on Nitto NT-01's in the same size.

I mainly do autocross, but my mods are in my sig although I may be switching somethings up very soon to get a little more grip. :)

SSR Comp H 17x9.5, 275/40R17 Kuhmo 710's all around. They autocross great. Haven't gotten this setup to a track yet.

I now run 17x9.5" CCWs with 275/35s all around on my Z32, which also fits our Z33:

I used to run 18x9" Skyline wheels with 265/35s all around:

but have also run 17x8.5, 17x19 Enkei RPO1s with 255 front, 275 rear Victoracers:

17" CCW's Classics too - Toyo RA-1's 255/275 ridin on my Z-Too Track Trailer for track rec

merlot350Z 02-23-2007 04:06 PM

We run SCCA T-2 with our 350Z. The rules allow a 9 x 18 front wheel and a 10 x 18 rear. We have Enkei RPF1 racing wheels available and both wheels are under 19#'s. These wheels will clear the Brembo brakes off of the track car. We run a Kumho 710 tire which is very good with this car. If you are interested in a set of wheels or some take-off tires with one weekend on them let me know. If you buy a set of wheels we will give you our suspension settings and tire pressures which will save you a lot of time. Contact me at merlot350Z@yahoo.com

Interesting skyline rims.

how are the Stop Tech brakes compared to the OEM Brembos?

Also considering the A brakes.

plumpzz 02-25-2007 08:56 AM

Brembo brakes cost only about a few hundress less than new stoptech brakes. I'd opt for the front to be AP racing and rear to be either AP racing or OEM Brembo rears.

StopTech's are miles ahead of the stock Brembos. Also better suited to track duty than the AP's.

Give me a ring to talk more about it if you are interested.

I sure will call you, but need to upgrade my tires first.

Please post how - why you feel the stoptech is better suited to track use than AP..... I have used their system for the last 4 years on many high speed / performance tracks without any hesitation / concern of failure or loss of performance. I have never had a reason to believe that my braking performance was in jeopardy with my AP system since it has been installed. Do you have ANY first hand experience with AP?

I will entertain you with a quick response, despite your childish addition to my quote.

Yes, I have PLENTY of experience with AP, and the AP calipers that are used in the kits available commercially for the Z are ROAD calipers. They do not have the same level of metallurgical technology as their true racing calipers, nor do they have the same level of development. AP will be the first to tell you that they are ROAD calipers, not competition grade.

StopTech calipers are used on racing cars regularly, and they are approved by StopTech for use as racing calipers due to their inherent design characteristics.

Also, with the AP calipers, try to find varying piston sizes. How are you balancing the brake system? Have you done all of the required math?

I do not talk out of my --- as you put it. I use knowledge gained through MANY years of experience of my own and feedback from m customers.

Please accept my apology for my lame comment.

I've got a couple different setups. 17x9 5zigen FN01RC's with 275/40 hoosiers all around (42lbs) and I have a set of 17x9.5 5Zigen ProRacer GN+'s with 275fr/255 rear Toyo RA-1's that I'm trying out.

RKnight 02-27-2007 05:32 AM

I have heard of the rotor bolts breaking on the AP brakes when pushed hard. Just ask the guys at Violent Racing Tech.
