380HP @ 7300 RPM's
Just got done reading the article in this months SCCA magazine about Jim Goughary GT-2 350z. His motor is a 3.5-liter VQ35, 14.5/1 compression, 380HP @ 7300 RPM's. Not bad, I would love to now how much that thing cost. It has a crazy ass one off manifold and using Motec unit.
|
that has to be to the crank right?
|
That is probably at the wheels...need more details.
|
scans?
|
English please jope :p

i read that too, he got even more HP out of a standard VG30DE than he did the VQ because he could spin more RPM out of the VG. Insane motor. They developed their own intake manifold that looks impressive. Full tube chasis. 28xxlbs with driver.

I also have a tube frame 350Z that I race in the same class and decided to get a pro motor this year. I just got it and it puts out 399 with the 37mm single inlet restricter and 426 unrestricted at the crank. The motor is a revup running Motec and both cams are active. I can't wait to get it together and on the track.
|
more details on the engine and what the power is actually delivered like.
|
The motor is running Nismo heads, custom cams, Carillo rods, 440 injectors and 13:1 compression. The Torque is 347 and hp is 425.9 at 7100. With the restricter it puts out 339 tq and 399.3 HP at 6800. The motor runs MAP not mass air and is dry sump. The motor also has a custom fabricated Intake and it is running on 112 fuel.

that is great output for such a seeminly 'normal' build. the compression is high, but not astro-high.
want to slap that onto my car for some road testing? elol |
Wow very impressive. Opens up the doors more.

In the class that I run I am limited to a 37mm restrictor and so for me to try to figure the way to get horsepower out of the motor would be time consuming. I knew that Rebello had already figured out the process so I sent my motor and heads to them to do the work.It is expensive the first time but it will be less expensive for a refresh since the major parts and fab are already done.

Just out of curiosity, do you run a battery on a car like this? Or do you start it externally like a formula car
|
I run a battery in the car, I need the weight to make 2280#.
As far as cost it will come in somewhere over $10,000 and less than $20,000. I don't have all the receipts yet and I probably don't want to add it up anyway. |
