I'll need a clutch / flywheel pretty soon VQ35HR, please advise.
and I'm asking here to whoever has a VQ35HR engine. for the very simple reason that you'll drive that and just don't show the pictures of how nice is the aluminum whatever pressure plate.
here we go with the options: dirty and cheap: JWT. I heard that more than one had problem with the CSC because the pressure plate clamping force is too much, and somebody had some issue of leaking for "wrong travel" of the CSC. less dirty, less cheap: exedy stage 2. (3 puck cerametallic clutch)... look nice.. just concerned about track abuse of that single plate... I didn't heard any review. shiny and expensive: os giken double disc. again.. no real review on the VQ35HR... it's quite heavy.. the whole assembly is about 36lbs. SHOULD be more than enough for a while on a N/A car. stock again? no way... the flywheel/assembly is DAMN heavy.. the engine takes a life and 1/2 to lose 2K rpm. please.. advise |
The OS Giken twin disc should last almost forever. Expensive, but worth every penny if you are racing/tracking the car.

I don't drive in heavy traffic... the car is already enough annoying there.
I was just asking for review/suggestions for the VQ35HR because looks like with a single plate (with reinforced pressure plate) the concentric slave cylinder gives up and you have to pull the transmission down. no issues are reported with the os giken but looks like only GTM is using that one on TT cars |
I'm very curious to hear some results on this one as well. I haven't heard good things about that slave holding up to aftermarket clutches so my fear is pretty similar. If I had a DE, JWT would be an easy choose for its cost and reliability NA. I just dont want to have to keep swapping the slave and the dealer def wont do it if there is an aftermarket clutch installed because they could legitimately say the clutch caused the failure...
