They hooked me up, just had to ask nicely. Works very well so far.

Great weekend at Shenandoah. Weather was great, camped out at the track with the crew. Good times. Lots of skid pad time, the Z got totally filthy
best time 2.01.44 with the pit wall straight addition to the usual layout

OEM diff has finally failed. Drove with an open diff most of the weekend. Was interesting to say for sure.

Another whiteline product fails. Both fronts sheared. POS. Explains the excessive oversteer.

In better news. Got a quaife for a good deal. Getting installed this month. TRYING to make to LRP nov 10th.

You can get the joints, links, grade B7 threaded rod, etc. from McMaster Carr online. Beefy stuff, for a bit more money than the Whiteline, seems like it was about half the SPL price IIRC. I gave a link (thread below) but you need to check the components, the bolt sizes (thru the sway bar) and joint threads (threaded rod) all need to match up - I didn't get it right first time around.

Quaife LSD installed! Found one in the for sale FB group. Installed and shimmed locally. Had to use non-lsd stub on one side and shorter LSD stub on the other, re-shim and new bearings and seals. Z1 was a big help to let me know what parts were needed.
To be tested HOPEFULLY in nov LRP. Regardless going to get the car prepped and ready. Very curious to see what it feels like.

Last task for 2018 is to get the alignment refreshed. I have not touched it since 2015. Really not as bad as I was expecting. Goes to show using high quality components goes a long way in the long term.
Went to the usual local shop with a hunter rack. Race shop was all booked up. They spent less than an hour on this and did not want to touch the caster cause they are too lazy. Overall for the price of 45min it will keep me rolling next year. Will be a good baseline if changes are needed.

Z is cleaned and put away now. See you on track in 2019!

Were still here! Spring 2019 has started with NJMP next weekend with the usual crowd.
Track prep is just about done. No changes to report yet from the winter break.

Looking forward to reading all this thread, some great stuff here, hope your new season goes well. As a matter of interest, how many miles has your car done?

EDIT You hardly ever mention the engine, apparently no problems over all this time with this pre HR?

Installed new racequip belts before NJMP as mine were expired. So far feels a little different on track, but overall seems to holds the HANS better with the 2" belts.

Back from NJMP. Overall great weekend a little rain day one, still running the old RS4s in the rain. Not much grip left in them. Day two was very clear 60s and sunny. None of my data was working, unfortunately. To be fixed for next time. I didnt bother to test it out. DOH!
But had a great time just driving and having fun with friends.

This is the second event on the Quaife, and the passenger side axle stub popped out 3x through the weekend. Need to get this fixed asap, I am thinking I have the wrong stub in the passenger side and the clip is not grabbing. I will post up the fix.

Well the quaife journey hopefully is resolved. First thing I tried was making the groove deeper in the NON-lsd short stub to accept a snap ring. Local machinist did this for me. Seems to fit fine.

After looking at the results I realized its the same thing as an LSD short stub that already comes with a clip. I decided to run the OEM lsd short and keep the modded one as a spare.
So far so good at LRP. More testing will continue as we hit more tracks this year.

LRP was a success. Sun / Rain / Sun. Ran a 1.05.1 not my PR but overall happy with that time. Car ran 100% with the new axle stub.

My student for the day was a 78 280z! Fun ride for sure. Crazy Torque motor. We had a blast.

This is hilarious because I JUST went through this this week.

Apparently OS Giken has several versions of their diff around, and the one I have that's supposed to work for the Z open diff did, in fact, need the VLSD passenger stub axles instead of the claimed open diff stub axles. There's $400 I wasn't planning to spend...

Keep on running the car hard and it loves it. Great 2 days at thunderbolt with the Kink. 1.41.1 not sure why im off my pace from last year but the car felt very fast No issues, I think the quaife runs a bit hotter I noted some diff fluid boil over. I will investigate some more.

It's strange how 350Z's overheat their diffs when the similar R200 diff is used in other Nissans without that problem. Could be a lack of air flow? Anyway mine has a CUSCO 1.5 way with a NISMO cover, hopefully that cover will make a difference.
