how to change pads on Stoptech ST-22 BBK?
 

Hi guys,
I have ST-40 front and ST-22 rear and I try to change pads myself. I looked at the front, it should be straight forward. But for the rear ST-22, I am not sure...I am attaching a ST-22 component picture here. Should I use a screw drive to push the #1 pad in (or out?), and then remove the #2 pad spring, and then replace the pads? Thanks for your inputs :)

sounds like you have it.

Be gentle when pushing the pad against the piston to make it retract.

they should lift out fairly easily.

I'm not following the terms you are using so if you are referring to the numbers in the diagram and not the actual pads here is what you do:

You can see that the two pins labelled #1 slide through the spring clip #2. If you push down on that spring clip #2 almost right where the arrow is point (right near the #1 pin when assembled) you can pinch the pin #1 with your fingers or pliers and slid them outboard or inboard until that #1 pin is completely removed from that caliper. There are two #1 pins so once you get one of them removed you can simply lift up on the spring clip #2 and the second #1 pin slides out really smoothly. Then just slide the inboard and outboard brake pads up enough so you can get leverage to push the pistons back up inside of the caliper.

By the way, when you put it back together after the brake pads are in put the #2 spring clip in first. Slide the lower or upper pin #1 in through the holes in the pad. Do the second pin #2. When both pins are in place, grab each one and move them in and out a bit to insure the #2 spring clip locked them in place.
