6 Point Sub Belts

I am in the market for 6 point harnesses for my 03 Z. The car has a full cage and proper bucket seats. I would like to see some pictures of how people have mounted their 6 point sub belts before I pull the trigger on a set.

I want to mount them through the floor but my concern is the irregularities in the floor pan below the seat. It also seems like the frame rail passes directly below the optimum location for one of the sub straps.

Please post pictures below. Thank you!

Sorry, the race Z is locked in the enclosed trailer and the belts are not visible anyway (already installed). So no pics. But rather than insisting they be mounted to the floor, why not mount them to the seat base instead? My custom base has a large support bracket almost directly underneath the slot in my Momo race seat that I drilled and attached my sub belt to.

The car is actually a drift car but it has been built with SCCA specs in mind. Most of the organizations I drive with state the belts cannot be mounted to the seat or seat bracket.

Even a welded seat bracket? Interesting as I seem to recall that if you welded the seat brackets, they could serve as a mounting point.

I have no current experience with 6+ point systems but back in the day, welded structures were the hot ticket. In the case of the Z33, it might be that you'll need to fab a sub-belt plate to the floor and either mount the eyelets to a raised platform (box or steel plate) or form a mount that fits the floor to effectively spread the belt load.

I actually had a piece of angle iron bent and welded to the top of the floor pan, extending to the trans tunnel and the door sill; then drilled and passed the eye bolts through the floor and reinforced with another angle iron under the car with no impact on ground clearance. The funny thing was, it passed tech as the angle iron(s) served as the load spreader without load washers. (Mind you, this was nearly 40 years ago, used "only" a single/ball breaker sub-belt, and NOT on a Z.)

Oh, what made this amazing was the "angle iron" was fabbed from an old bed frame. (M-I-C.... K-E-Y.... EM OH YOU ESS EEE....) :icon17:

Of course, I don't recommend doing this without first checking the GCR and/or talk to your local scrutineer to determine its legality. (I also have no idea how the floor/frame rails are oriented, sorry.)
