Home made front splitter not functional

Home made front splitter not functional
My car is overall balanced, but high speed corner entry feels understeer, so spent some time during 7/4 week to build a front splitter.
Test it last weekend at NJMP lightning course which has high speed corners and connects to long straight. With the upgraded tires, I expected at least 1.5s faster than my best record, but ended up only half sec faster. I would like to have your advice on my splitter setup, the current setup may give me negative impact.
- It is 4" extended from the edge of the bottom lip
- The ground clearance probably around 4".
- It is parallel with the group when static
- There is a ~1” gap between the splitter & bottom of the bumper to let air go through. This is my main concern, I will build something to close the gap.

Anything over 3 inches from the ground is pretty much considered useless

I'm curious how a wide body affects the Z. I know Sasha's Z has the Rocket Bunny fender flares now. He is the only member I've seen test his Z in a wind tunnel but that was when it was OE body.
Added this one just cuz I enjoyed watching it so much.

High speed corners are fun with a splitter, especially if there are bumps or waves in the pavement. As the splitter gets closer to the ground it creates more downforce, a midcorner bump can be felt. Also a slight press of the brakes on turn-in will change dynamics a bit more than before

Ineffective and allows to much air under the car.

trail brake does help my turn in a lot, but I would assume a functional front splitter will help dramatically for a large sweeping corner like the last corner of NJMP lightning

Splitter should be kept level with the ground.
Then as as far as height and design, tons of info out there on it.

Nice start for sure. I think some garden edging may be a better option than that Ebay lip. It should close the gaps much better as well as leave more of the splitter surface which I believe would create more high pressure on top creating more downforce.
Battleaero just released a pretty stout looking splitter which I ordered. Once it comes in I'll modify it to suit ST4 rules as well as add a vertical dam (which I'm thinking to use garden edging for.) Heck I may just use their brackets and make a whole new splitter.
