It was an absolutely awesome race! Very dynamic. Lots of passes, lots of fight. Leader has changed so many times. Z #33 was actually leading for some time and I start getting excited, than it dropped to 5th, and I though oh, well. Ha, guess what, #13 is first. And thanks to the circumstanses #33 went from 5th to 3rd in during last 10 minutes or so...

I drove 300 miles to mid-Ohio just to see Zs racing. I didn't really expect a double win. I was standing right by Speed-TV cameraman when they took interview when the cars stopped.

I also finaly met BJ, and visited both teams garages(trucks?). All the people on both teams were very friendly and took time to explain and show everything I could think of asking.

I spent like 20 minutes talking to John (manager ?) of Shuitemaker Motorsports and learned that the guy actully have won Grand-Am (and Le-mans) more than once in past (with Porsches). And he defenetely knows what he's doing and how to bring team to front, and he has a solid plan for the Z. So no doubt Shuitemaker Motorsports will get their podium too.

Really a great weekend.

Congrats to the PErformacne guys!
Actually it was those 350EVO sway bars!

The weekend didnt even stop at the checkered flag. I am not going to go into the details but anyone that ws around the number 83 Porsche pit box at the end got a real treat.

We moved steadily up through the field and actually got a round Stu...but a flag thrown in turn 11 passing a firebird made me have to let the firebird back buy......this gave the speed advantage to stu who was able to easily get back around me.
We had a bit of BS racing with the 83 Porsche (2 laps down) as he was blocking for his team 38 car then decided to use me as a stop 3 times thorugh the esses. The yellow falg allowed him to cath up then spin me in the keyhole. This action was the spark for the pit lane action ...think nascar!
We then fought back from 17th again all the way back to 7th in the final 10 laps of the race. Just need more green flag and not the yellow in the end.
Anywho........
We are now 3rd in the championship title.
.......onto Homestead.
Cheers
BJZ
Thanks to all those that stopped by.

Both teams are run by very capable team managers. I know John Wright is very well known in all forms of road racing. Good to hear you moved up in the points BJ. Did SPEED catch any of your post race Nascar action on film?

Late congrats!!! After knocking on that door for so long, it was great to see the Unitech team finally blow that sucker off it's hinges! Another chapter in the Z's storied racing heritage is written.

Of course...Grand-Am officials are probably looking at ways to slow the 350Z juggernaut even as we speak...

The body kits on our cars were JDM pieces that were built by our race team. The fit and finish wasn't the best... but it worked. Nismo has now released the U.S. Spec Nismo kit and can be found here on our website:

No, they didn't show it. But it happened right in front of me. I was really puzzled by his way of braking...

I'll post pictures today I promise... the problem is to filter 250 something pics I've got to some reasonable number to post...

BJ. Just watching the race on TV i kinda of got the feeling that the Porsche guys. How do you say are a$% holes. I felt that way after watching Watkins Glen and this race. They know we have something that can give them a lot of pain and suffering on the track.

Keep racing guys and writing a new chapter in the Z's race heritage.
