Help! Tires... Sizes... AutoX... Arrgg!
I'm having a really difficult time finding a tire I want for Solo II. I have used the Nitto NT-555 RII on my Camaro and really enjoyed it. I would really love to get a set for the Z but the sizes offered are not even close.
All they offer in an 18" is 285/35 ZR18.
I don't even see the VictoRacer V700 listed in an 18".
In the Ecsta V700 the closest size is 265/35-18 and 225/40-18. I don't like that there is a big change in profile and stagger. The stagger worries me the most about the whole thing.
What are you guys with Track Models doing for rubber?

275/35-18 Hoosiers are the most common choice, christoc mentioned the slightly lower cost alternative. I don't know how much ROI there is in trying to maintain stagger. I don't left foot brake, so I don't experience any ice mode problems. I prefer the improved balance gained by not running staggered tire sizes.

I run the Ecsta V700 265/35-18 all around, and haven't had any stagger related issues on the way to or from events.
VDC is off during the event, so I don't have any problems then either
My wheels are enkei RPO2-J, but now they have many more choices. I think the RPF1 is now available in an 18x8x35 which is what I have on all four corners. You track guys will need to find an 18x8.5 for the rear I guess?
Anyway, I've been very happy with my tires, even if they aren't as sticky as Hoosiers.
EDIT:
Oh crap, I just realized how old this post is. Well, hope the tires turned out OK.

I am running the Nitto 555RII in 275-40-17 on my car. I got MB motorsport wheels (17 x 9 +27 backspacing) and they fit perfectly. The wheels were like $180 each and weigh 20 lbs each (not too light, but not too heavy). Total weight wheel/tire is about 46 lbs. I used them at the last autocross with some excellent result.
