Triangle Z Club's 2005 HPDE Schedule (starting Feb)

Listed below is the tentative 2005 HPDE / Time Trial schedule
  • February 12-13... Virginia Int'l Raceway Full Course... Alton, VA $275/$295
  • April 9-10... Virginia Int'l Raceway South Course... Alton, VA $265/$285
  • June 4-5... Rockingham Speedway Road Circuit... Rockingham, NC
  • September 10-11... Rockingham Speedway Road Circuit... Rockingham, NC
  • October 22-23... Carolina Motorsports Park... Kershaw, SC
So far, we have opened registration for the two VIR events... you can find snail mail forms and a link to online registration at www.timetrials.net

Both of these events will fill up - we usually reach capacity about three weeks before the event for both of these, so get your entry in early!

If you have reservations about Virginia in February... well, we can't blame you. But rest assured that we have contingency plans in case of inclement weather. (Explained on the website.)

Some of you may notice the absence of our Roebling Road and VIR Patriot course dates, replaced with dates at Rockingham Speedway. This was a difficult decision for us, since Roebling is a well-liked track, but our core members were growing tired of the 5-6 hour drive. We have not 'officially' cancelled the event with the track, so if there is enough demand to go back, we may very well add it back in - there will be an official decision made before year's end. VIR is simply charging us too much for the Patriot Course. It is too small to run a quality HPDE, and too expensive for Time Trial only (not to mention there are lots of things to hit there :( )

We are very excited to be returning to Rockingham Speedway for 2005. After a 7 year absence from the club scene (due to NASCAR) the track is re-opening it's infield road course configuration. Similar to Daytona, it merges the infield with portions of the NASCAR oval, creating a 9 or 10 turn 2 mile circuit. We were actually the last club to run a school there back in '97 - so we jumped at the chance to go back to our 'home' track. We hope you'll join us... (did I mention we will have use of the NASCAR garages?)

Please let me know if you have any questions... post, PM, or email.

*** Admin... any chance I could get a sticky for this? ***

Looks good! Hope to be down instructing with you guys in February to kick off the season!

Triangle Z Club puts on a good show, and last year there were lots of Zs ripping around the track. Can't wait!

This is getting rediculous. This will be the 4'TH one of these I'm going to miss (will still be in China). I only travel 3-4 times per year and every single one of them is during one of these at VIR. I used to live about 30 miles from that track and always wanted to drive it. Hopefully I can make the one in April but won't know for certain until I'm back. Enjoy everyone, one of these day's I'll make it.

Go to www.trackschedule.com - there are plenty of other clubs running there... good luck, hope you can make it in April.

No - not at all. As a matter of fact, if you're going to be driving a Z, go ahead and use the 'member' pricing.

We welcome all makes and models, all experience levels, and we don't care what club you're affiliated with (although those pesky PCA people always make things interesting :icon17: ).

you may want to mention the possiblity of adding Roebling Road as well.

Oh, Please...any member of the Yugo club please let us know so we can added the flashing "Caution, slow children and cars ahead" signs..

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

All good plans are doomed to change, so here's what's going on so far...

Scratch the CMP date in October. After careful consideration and review of that event over the last three years, we have decided to drop the CMP event and pick BACK up our Roebling Road event. The Roebling Road (Savannah, GA) event will be in either Late June or Mid-July - granted, it will be hot, but there's nothing else available right now. Will update again when we have something confirmed after the holidays.

Also - registration is now open for our third event, June 4-5 North Carolina Motor Speedway (Rockingham). www.thscc.com for details.

thanks!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
(again)

OK... second Rockingham date, previously scheduled for September 9-10, has been moved to NOVEMBER 4-5.

This enables us to keep September free for future events (like Roebling Road on Labor Day beginning 2006) or in the (unlikely) event that something at VIR opens up in Sept/October (we can wish right?).

Sorry for all the little posts - will start a new thread after the new year when everything is set in stone.

i would like to see a VIR north course open up!

Stack Dec 20, 2004 01:15 PM

Tell me about it !

Ideally, a full course date would open up in the fall, allowing us to changes our February event to a North Course date.

Plus, that would give us three dates at VIR on three different configurations.

yeah that would be perfect

i know you guys will stay on top of it! any chance of sharing with another group or is that not a good idea?

John Dec 20, 2004 01:23 PM

Ah, the north course.. I love the 4-wheel drift all the way the Stevie Wonder and the two right handers going through the infield thereafter... North Course =

mhoward1 Dec 20, 2004 01:23 PM

We do share. We have run events with Alfa, GA Vettes, and are open to others..

Part of the problem is that we already share/co-host with the Tarheel Sports Car Club. Most clubs who already have dates at VIR don't 'need' to share, cause they know they can fill the event without much problem (unless they price it too high).

There's plenty of events going on and our members usually partake in one or more of them throughout the year.
