ALWAYS clear-coat Carbon fiber products - especially those from Jay (JDM Z33)
Jay gave me the same story about a Version 1 CF rear spoiler for my z when I asked him if I should have it clear-coated. I could easily afford it, but I didn't want to spend the money needlessly. He told me it had many coats of clear on it and I took his word for it.
His manufacturer may use the same mold as Mines, but that doesn't mean he uses the same quality finishing products as Mines.
If his manufacturer does clear-coat the parts, it is with some cheap, non-automotive-grade clear. I don't expect you to take my word for it.
If it wasn't for the bad experience with the rear spoiler, i'd have already bought this lip for my z.
The rear spoiler was stunning when new, but 9 months later, it started to deteriorate, fade to yellow and has a matte finish. I'm not sure what to do with it now. I could try to get it re-cleared, but that would cost $200+ and it'll still be yellow. I tried to work with him off-line on a possible at-cost to me replacement since I felt it shouln't have went to he11 that quickly, but he didn't want to work anything out.
So 9 months later it turned into:
And 2 years later (today) it looks like:
I am totally disappointed with it. Crappiest mod I've done to my otherwise high-quality car.

sorry to hear that but the front lip I had on my 04 was perfect for over a year, only thing was rock chips killed it and I just got it re-cleared, try taking the spoiler to a good shop and having them sand it and clear it and you will be fine also I polished mine with zaino every time I washed the car and that seemed to really help
