I am so confused here.
If one were to get the 90's 4 piston Camaro kit all that would need to be made is the mounting brackets correct? Granted they have the correct hat size and brake line hookups? I don't track my car but I do want some bigget brakes. Something in the 13" - 14" range and staying under 2K.... What about rears? Could the same be done for them? If so that like 4K for the whole setup, why not just buy a kit????

Stainless lines: 150
So we are well into 1300$+ with conservative numbers (probably more...
I spoke with Precision Brakes and they sell a Wilwood kit for 1729 (4 piston) and 2129 (6 piston)
They will do a group buy for us:
4 piston:
3+ 15% off = $1469
5+ 25% off = $1296
6 piston:
3+ 15% off = $1809.65
5+ 25% off = $1596.75
They actually recommended the 4 piston kit.

This won hun xun is toykilla from 350z - tech forum. You will note that this is the first time he has posted in this thread. His first action is to claim he can make the brackets cheap. Then he organizes a group buy, based on some prices he made up to compare to, and of course this group buy is hosted at the forum that he runs. He quotes here, $200 for calipers. The calipers go for $122. He quotes a price of $400 for hats, but the hats in the kit he is sponsoring the group buy for go for $150 for two. On and on. I personally will not be associated with this person. I would have to doubt his motivation in this whole thing. If someone really thinks we can get an excellent group buy price from Precision Brake Company, let one of us here without any self interest give them a call.

I did actually price the calipers when there was a parts list on here and they were not $200 (all of them were less than 200 vs. "conservative" price listed) a piece. Most ranged about $150 for the 4 piston calipers which I'm sure could be found cheaper some where else since I only search a few places. I'd rather just get a parts list and price it with actual prices rather than just going from what someone says.

Exactly what I am saying. The price quote I already have on the calipers in the Precision kit are $122.50, to be exact. The hats that they use are $75 each. This is a non starter, I don't have a personal problem with this guy, I have a problem with his style. Most of the pages from this thread could be deleted, they are Stop tech and anti stop tech posts. More people blowing smoke. The point toykilla brought up about the Wilwood kit price being as high as the other kits was brought up by me in this thread a long time ago. He states the obvious, as if he is the rocket scientist amoung us mortals. We have been there, and done that. The goal of the project was a DIY kit for around $800 or so, if we couldn't get in that price range, then the idea was to get a discounted kit from arizonaZcar or someone else. The prices break down like this:
Brackets: $75
Hats $75 ea, $150
Calipers $122.50 ea, $245
Rotors $?
SS Lines $100 or less
Pads $50 to $60
Hardware $25 or so
That puts us around $655 plus the rotor price, which even with toykilla's prices, puts us at $855. Add $100 for shipping, etc, and we are under $1K. If we can source the parts through one dealer, shipping and some of the part prices could very well come down.
The character I am speaking about, toykilla, is your way of presenting yourself - if you don't see it, I cannot think of a way of showing you. I have no thanks to you, the brackets are already being made, noone to my knowledge asked for your help. If you want to help, fine. As for it going nowhere, I am sorry it is not fast enough for you. Having the brackets made and gathering pricing information is not "going nowhere" to me. If you will check the name of the thread, it is "DIY Assemble your own Big Brake Kits: Caliper Brackets (Custom)" not "toykilla hosts a group buy on BBK's on his forum" Not "toykilla declairs DIY BBK bust on the other forum" etc. Feel free to host a group buy whenever or where ever you want, for all I care (you certainly don't need my permission). But that is not what this thread is about.
As for the dishonesty, it is in the price list you posted. Misrepresentation. Obviously, to attempt to kill this project. Why? Who knows what motivates you. I don't. Perhaps the same reason you come here instead of your own forum.
