Will 06 Brakes work on our 02-05 Z's?

What will need to be changed?

Is it simply a matter of swapping the calipers and rotors?

Or do you think we'll need to swap the whole axle?

I want the OEM larger brakes!

Are the calipers going to be bigger too or just the rotors? I have not heard of any detailed specs on them, just heard they are bigger for '06 on the non Brembo'd models.

That's what I'm wondering, I'm wondering if our calipers will clear the larger diameter rotors.

I'm HOPING they do....cheap brake upgrade!

Working on fitting these next time we do a brake kit...

They are basicly the same brakes as the Maxima / Altima SE-R

Cool.....keep us posted!

of course!

The new G's got bigger 2 piston brakes - I did a double take the first time I saw them - I read that the pads are the same as the M45 - so ODDS ARE the calipers and rotors were lifted also but that is not a guarantee

Is that what is going on the new Z's also??

If you are going to do a brake upgrade, why not do a BIG BRAKE UPGRADE, switching to another OEM 2-piston setup is silly IMHO.

A rear BBK runs $1800-$2200 vs. what "may be" $200-$300 for the updated rear oem setup. A few track folks are getting by with the current rear oems, but are experiencing accelerated pad wear and/or melted dust boots. A slightly larger rotor and/or pad footprint may in fact be good enough to satisfy the needs of DE drivers.

That's a good point about the rears, but I think otherwise about the fronts.

myG35zx Sep 14, 2005 06:14 PM

Are the rear largers? I thought that the 2005 G and 2006 Z rears are the same size as the previous years. But the fronts are larger.

Good question. I assumed both front and rears changed...

So Jason, I know you're busy...but any word yet?

Is it as simple as swapping out the rotors?

Or do we have to change the calipers too?

Anything else involved?

Jason@Performance Oct 6, 2005 12:53 PM

For the bigger rotors you will have to change the caliper too...

There is a guy who put the 2pot off the G35 2005 on his 2003...

He is having some issues... I have been going back and forth with him about everything to try and figure things out...

I think you need to use the new brake booster off the 2005 G35 or 2006 350z

Thanks for the update.

BTW, do you know what kind of issues? I would assume loss of braking power...without changing to the updated booster.
