PICTURE: What's on my brake pad?
I went to the dealership this morning to replace my front brake pads. I brought the Hawk HPS and asked them to put these on and not using those factory ones. Then they said there would be no guarantee for any future problems on the brake, and I go fine with that. But when I got my car back, I just noticed there's some little grey tape wrapped on the edge of the pads (check the pics below), and don't even know why they did that on the pads since I thought Hawk HPS should fix into the caliper perfectly.
Also, maybe I'm just such a noob, but I really couldn't feel any difference between HPS and the previous OEM pads. Need some comments on that, thanks. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/3ec0bc77.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/3bda3ff9.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h1...8/0de57dde.jpg |
I think it stops the squeeling
|
Moly-based high temperature brake grease?
|
anti-seize
|
Maybe teflon tape, they used to help prevent squeel. Maybe.

Yea, it's just brake grease, totally normal...just looks like they used A LOT of it! That is one of the places you put the grease to prevent squealing, siezing, etc...just a good lubricant in that area.
